Abdullah Shafique as we all know is a very classy and stylish test opener of the Pakistan team, in his short test career he has played many match winnings knocks for Pakistan, Shafique averaged nearly 70+ in his career once which proves his consistency as a batter in test cricket which is the most difficult format of cricket as well. Everyone here rates Abdullah as a future of the Pakistan test team as well as the backup opener in the ODi cricket for Pakistan but we don’t rate Abdullah Shafique as a t20 batsman as much so, let’s try to find out about the t20 career of Abdullah below.

Abdullah Shafique PSL T20 CAREER:

Abdullah Shafique has been picked up in the Pakistan Super League by two teams, once for Multan Sultans way back in 2018 and then Lahore Qalandars picked him for the Pakistan Super League 2022 season.

Multan Sultans

Abdullah was picked by Multan Sultans but he did not played the tournament for Sultans as he was kept on bench.

Lahore Qalandars

Abdullah was then picked by Lahore Qalandars in the 2022 PSL season and he got a chance there to make his PSL debut as well, Abdullah was the regular opener of the Lahore Qalandars in the 2022 PSL season and wasn’t doing much good but Lahore persisted with him and he scored a crucial fifty for his team in the PSL ELIMINATOR where he scored a crucial 52(28) and showed his potential as well, that was the payback to Lahore for those consistent chances they gave him, his stats in PSL 2022 PSL Season are as follows;

RUNS – 251

Abdullah Shafique was benched in the start of the PSL 2023 tournament but after some games, he was given a chance to showcase his talent and he never looked back after that, Shafique scored a fifty in his come-back match followed by another fifty the next day, he started the tournament with a bang and decided to build on those performances which helped him had a good PSL season, his stats in PSL 2023 tournament are as follows;

RUNS – 120

I can’t say whether you all know about this or not but Abdullah Shafique had already made his T20i Debut for Pakistan even before his debut in test cricket and which was way back in November 2020, but Abdullah wasn’t able to avail those chances he got for Pakistan T20 opener when Babar Azam was injured and out due to finger fracture in 2021.

Now even after his amazing performances, he is not in the race of the Pakistan T20 squad because now he has to compete with Muhammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, and even his own batting partner Fakhar Zaman for the opening slot of the Pakistan T20 team which is not an easy task to do but in future, there is definitely good chances that Abdullah will be given some chances again to prove himself at the international arena if he continues to perform as he did in Pakistan Super League 2023 season for Lahore Qalandars.
