Shubman Gill Replaces Babar Azam As The Top Ranked ODI Batsman In ICC Rankings:

The young opener of the Indian cricket team, Shubman Gill is now the new #1 ranked ODI batsman in the world.

Shubman Gill has surpassed Babar Azam in the latest ICC Rankings and has now been crowned as the new top-ranked batsman in the world.

Before this rankings update, there was only a difference of 2 points between Shubman and Babar but because of some runs from Gill against Sri Lanka and South Africa, he is now the top-ranked batsman in ODI cricket.

The Indian opener, Shubman Gill scored 92 runs against Sri Lanka and 23 runs against South Africa in the last week of the World Cup 2023.

The Pakistani skipper failed to score against Bangladesh but he scored an unbeaten knock of 66 runs against New Zealand in a run chase of 400 runs which Pakistan won by 21 runs.

Currently, Shubman Gill has 830 rating points in the ICC Rankings and Babar Azam is at the second spot with 824 points in the ICC ODI Rankings.

The captain of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam has been ranked as the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world since 2021 and it’s been around 950 days since he has held on to the top spot in the ICC ODI Rankings.

As both players are not that far from each other, Shubman Gill will definitely have more chances to strengthen his position at the top because he will play more ODIs than Babar Azam.
