Australia Beats Srilanka And Got Their First Win Of The World Cup 2023:
A sigh of relief for Australia as they have beaten Sri Lanka comprehensively by 6 wickets to get their first two points in the World Cup 2023 tournament.
The captain of Sri Lanka, Kusal Mendis won the toss and decided to bat first against Australia in the group stage match of the 2023 World Cup.
FIRST INNINGS:
Sri Lankan openers gave a good start to their team as they didn’t lose any wickets in the powerplay and scored 51 runs as well against the likes of Cummins and Starc.
Pathum Nissanka scored 61 runs from 67 deliveries smashing eight fours in his knock along with Kusal Perera who scored a brilliant 78 runs on 82 deliveries, smashing twelve fours in his gritty innings.
On the other hand, the middle order of Sri Lanka failed miserably as the team slipped from 157-2 to a mere total of 209-10 against the pace of Cummins and the spin of Zampa.
Adam Zampa was the start of the show who picked up four crucial wickets in his eight overs, two wickets each were picked by Cummins and Starc.
SECOND INNINGS:
In the run chase, Madushanka was breathing fire who bowled a double wicket maiden as he sent both David Warner and Steve Smith back to the pavilion in his second over.
Mitchell Marsh scored an attacking innings of 52 runs from 51 deliveries with nine fours along with Marnus Labuschange who scored 40 runs on 60 deliveries, but just two fours in his innings.
Furthermore, The wk-batsman of Australia, Josh Inglis scored a well compiled fifty and Maxwell finished the run chase with some quick runs as Australia chased down the target of 210 runs in just 35.2 overs.
Dilshan Madushanka was the only bowler who got all three wickets of the Aussie batters and rest of the bowlers were easily negotiated by the Aussies as they chased down the target by 5 wickets.
