Babar Azam In LPL 2023:
The captain of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam scores a much-needed fifty in the second match of the season for Colombo Strikers, winning the man of the match award as Strikers won the match by 27 runs against B-Love Kandy.
Babar Azam failed in the first match of the season where he scored just 7 runs off 8 deliveries and was bowled by Thisara Perera. Colombo Strikers also faced defeat against Jaffna Kings by 21 runs.
Even though Babar Azam failed in the first match of the season but a batsman of his caliber won’t take so long to move on and in the next match, he wins the Player of the Match award for his maiden half-century in LPL 2023.
The star Pakistani batsman, Babar Azam made a much-needed comeback in the second match of the season for Colombo Strikers, even though he was also struggling with the bat in his half-century still, it was quite a good effort keeping in mind, the second-highest score by Colombo Strikers was just 28 runs.
The right-handed Pakistani opener batted first in the match against B-Love Kandy and scored a valuable 59 runs off 52 deliveries, with the help of four fours and one six. He doesn’t seem to be comfortable in the whole innings but still stayed on the crease and helped his team to reach a defendable total of 157 runs.
Babar Azam batted as a lone warrior in the match and he ended as the highest runs-scorer of the match for Strikers. The second-highest runs scorer in the match for Colombo Strikers was Nuwanidu Fernando who scored 28 runs off 31 deliveries, and that means no batter was comfortable on the wicket.
Isuru Udana and Muhammad Hasnain were the pick of the bowlers for B-Love Kandy in this match as both bowled brilliantly in the match – Isuru Udana picked up three wickets and gave away 39 runs and Muhammad Hasnain picked up two wickets and gave away just 27 runs against Colombo Strikers.
In the run chase, B-Love Kandy just couldn’t get going on that slow wicket as they kept on losing the wickets at regular intervals. A collective bowling effort from Colombo Strikers defended a total of 158 runs in the match.
Naseem Shah picked up two wickets for 19 runs, Matheesha Pathirana picked up three wickets and gave away 24 runs, Jeffrey Vandersay claimed two wickets for 32 runs, and Muhammad Nawaz dismissed one batter but bowled an economical spell in which he gave away 18 runs and this bowling attack collectively dismantled the batting lineup of B-Love Kandy and helped their team win the first match of the LPL 2023 season.
The match-winning performance from Babar Azam who was also the highest runs scorer of the match for his team in LPL 2023, was followed by the top-notch efforts of the bowling lineup of Colombo Strikers as they thrashed B-Love Kandy by 27 runs in their second match of the LPL 2023 season.
