BCCI ACCEPTS HYBRID MODEL PROPOSED BY PCB

BCCI ACCEPTS HYBRID MODEL PROPOSED BY PCB:

Pakistan Cricket Board has the official rights to host the Asia Cup 2023 but Indian Cricket Board has created all this fuss as they refused to allow their team to play Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan.

BCCI wanted the whole Asia Cup 2023 to be played at a neutral venue but despite all these conditions from the Indian Cricket Board, PCB has made all efforts they could to save the Asia Cup 2023 and now as per the attest reports Pakistan Cricket Board has finally got what they wanted and there will be a phase of Asia Cup 2023 that will be played in Pakistan.

The final announcement on this matter from the Asian Cricket Council and the Indian Cricket Board will be done in the last week of May, the top officials of the Cricket Boards and Asian Council will sit together and will decide to take the final call on this whole scenario.

As per the Indian Media reports, the model given by the Pakistan Cricket Board has almost been accepted by all the relevant stakeholders, the decision regarding the host of the Asia Cup 2023 has not been finalized yet as the top officials of the Indian Cricket Board are busy in IPL 2023 right now.

Indian Cricket Board has also invited all the top officials of the members of the Asian Cricket Council, the officials of Bangladesh Board, Afghanistan Board, and Sri Lankan Board are coming to watch the final of the IPL 2023 and it’s the moment when the final announcement will be done right after the completion of the Indian Premier League.

  • The venues that are named for the hosting of Asia Cup 2023 as neutral venues can be UAE and SRILANKA. PCB chairman Najam Sethi has even wished for ENGLAND to be considered as one of the venues.

PCB wants to hold the second phase of the Asia Cup 2023 to be played in UAE, one major reason for this is that the gate money that PCB will earn from tickets will be much more in UAE rather than in SRILANKA as a neutral venue but many officials have raised questions on UAE to be picked as the neutral venue because of the extreme heat in the UAE.

The only issue left here, as per reports that BCCI can even ask Pakistan Cricket Board to give an assurance that the Pakistan team will visit India for the 2023 Cricket World Cup that is scheduled to be played in India later this year.

Najam Sethi and Pakistan Cricket Board has already clarified on this matter that the visit of Pakistan cricket team in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup is subject to the approval by the Pakistan Government and they have no objection to come and play in Pakistan if they receive the clearance from the government of Pakistan – the same issue Indian Cricket Board has given to everyone that they can’t visit Pakistan to play the Asia Cup 2023 because of the orders from their government.

Even though Pakistan Cricket Board’s stance on this matter was quite rigid that they will not play in the Asia Cup 2023 if the Asia Cup 2023 is moved out of the Pakistan but then they showed some flexibility and proposed a hybrid model in this regard which was pretty much acceptable to all the teams.

  • ACCORDING TO THE HYBRID MODEL, THE ASIA CUP 2023 WILL BE DIVIDED INTO TWO PHASES.
  • THE FIRST PHASE WILL BE HELD IN PAKISTAN (4-5 MATCHES ARE EXPECTED TO BE PLAYED IN PAKISTAN).
  • THE SECOND PHASE WILL BE PLAYED AT A NEUTRAL VENUE (UAE OR SRILANKA).
  • ALL THE MATCHES OF THE INDIAN CRICKET TEAM WILL BE PLAYED AT THE NEUTRAL VENUE.
  • THE FINAL WILL ALSO TAKE PLACE AT A NEUTRAL VENUE.

All the relevant decisions regarding the matter of Pakistan playing in the upcoming 2023 ICC World Cup are also expected to be resolved in the upcoming meetings but for that you have to stay tuned for further developments in this regard.
