ICC ODI World Cup 2023 – Pak World Cup Participation Is Still In Doubt As Pakistan Demands A Neutral Venue

ICC ODI World Cup 2023:

Pakistani Minister, Ehsaan Mazari says that if India wants a neutral venue for the Asia Cup 2023, then the same should be the case with matches of Pakistan in the World Cup 2023 in India.

The upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played in India and the participation of the Pakistan cricket team is still in doubt as the Federal Minister of Pakistan has again raised questions on a neutral venue for the matches of the Pakistan team in the World Cup, later this year in India.

It seems that there is no way forward right now to this tension between the boards of Pakistan and India, because as Pakistan Cricket Board has already conveyed its message to the International Cricket Council that the participation of Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup in India is solely based on the approval of the government.

Federal Minister, Ehsaan Mazari has emphasized that its right of Pakistan to demand a neutral venue for the Pakistan cricket team’s matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the way India demanded the neutral venue for the Asia Cup 2023 which was scheduled to be played in Pakistan.

The Asia Cup 2023 is now scheduled to be played under a Hybrid Model as the Indian Cricket Board denied to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 and for that to tackle, it is decided that the Asia Cup 2023 will be played at a neutral venue. I.e. Srilanka and India will not tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 matches, now this is what Pakistani government official has demanded from International Cricket Council for the upcoming Cricket World Cup, which is scheduled to be played in India.

‘’ It is my personal opinion, since Pakistan Cricket Board comes under my ministry, that if India demands to play at the neutral venue for the Asia Cup games, we would also demand the same for our World Cup games in India ‘’, Mazari told Indian Express.

The Minister of Pakistan criticized the approval of the Hybrid Model for the Asia Cup 2023 matches at a neutral venue and says that Pakistan has the right to host the matches of Asia Cup 2023, and if India insists on a neutral venue for the Asia Cup 2023, we will also demand the same for World Cup matches.

‘’ Pakistan is the host, it has the right to host all the matches in Pakistan and all cricket lovers want this as well. I don’t want any Hybrid Model ‘’, he further added.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif has made a committee that will check all the ground realities and after that, the report will be provided to the Prime Minister, and there are 11 ministers included in this committee.

Mazari has confirmed that this committee will discuss the matter and will provide the information to Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif who will take the final call on this matter of Pakistan’s tour to India.

‘’ The committee will consist of 11 ministers, with Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to lead this committee. We will discuss the matter and provide our recommendations to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister will ultimately make the final decision ‘’, Mazari concluded.

The 11 members that are included in this committee related to the participation of Pakistan in the World Cup are Rana Sanaullah, Azam Tarar, Ehsaan Mazari, Maryam Aurangzeb, Asad Mahmood, Amin Ul Haq, Qamar Zaman, Tariq Fatemi, and this committee will be headed by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
