ICC TO SHIFT T20 WORLD CUP 2024:

The 2024 T20 World Cup will be the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup that is scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the USA, both countries were awarded the hosting rights for the upcoming T20 World Cup next year.

As per the reports, there is a proposal that the International Cricket Council could request England & Wales Cricket Board and Windies to swap their awarded World Cups – 2024 and 2030 editions in order to get the infrastructure right for the mega event in their country.

The matches of the 2024 T20 World Cup were scheduled to be played in both countries, more than half of the matches are scheduled to be played in West Indies but one phase of the tournament will be held in the USA as well which isn’t ready and has raised doubts over the hosting of the upcoming T20 World Cup next year.

ICC awarded the USA with the rights to host some matches of the ICC T20 World Cup next year but they had to meet the international requirements as we all know the infrastructure of the USA is not up to international standards and they were given time by the International Cricket Council to prepare for the 2024 T20 World Cup but as per the reports the International Cricket Council is still not happy with the current infrastructure for the T20 World Cup next year.

‘’ We don’t have any existing facilities so it’s up to ICC whether they will invest money in some makeshift venue for the World Cup ‘’, Former Chairman of Cricket USA.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to be played at the start of next year and for that, there is only half a year left for the tournament, the cricket governing board in the USA and the government had to meet the international requirements set by the International Cricket Council to host the upcoming T20 World Cup in their country which is still not ready and with only some months left in the tournament, this also seems to be impossible for the USA to meet the international standards.

• ACCORDING TO THE REPORTS, INTERNATIONAL CRICKET COUNCIL ISN’T HAPPY WITH THE PROGRESS RELATED TO INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE USA AND THEY COULD POTENTIALLY REQUEST ENGLAND AND WALES TO BE READY FOR THE HOSTING OF THE 2024 T20 WORLD CUP.

It’s highly likely that England will accept this request from the International Cricket Council as they will be requested to host the 2024 T20 World Cup and swap with West Indies for the 2030 T20 World Cup – This will be the best possible thing done by the ICC because it will not cause any kind of disturbance in the hosting rights and will also give enough time for the West Indies and USA to be ready for the hosting of the T20 World Cup in this time frame.

• AS WE ALL KNOW, AS PER THE DOCUMENT PROVIDED BY THE ICC, THE HOSTING RIGHTS FOR THE 2024 ICC T20 WORLD CUP HAVE BEEN AWARDED TO ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, AND IRELAND AND THEY CAN SWAP THAT WITH WINDIES AND USA FOR THE 2024 T20 WORLD CUP IF ICC DECIDES TO CHANGE THE VENUE BECAUSE OF POOR INFRASTRUCTURE.

USA which was awarded the rights to host the 2024 T20 World Cup, currently only has two grounds that meet the international standards set by the ICC, and we all know two stadiums aren’t enough for a mega event like T20 World Cup to be played in a country – Central Broward Regional Park Stadium and the Moosa Stadium are the two stadiums in the USA that are of international quality and can host the matches of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The current infrastructure in the USA is not very encouraging and it is likely that ICC could well swap the hosts for the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2030 T20 World Cup. It will also allow the USA Cricket to get the infrastructure ready and to get their house in order before 2030 ‘’, Sources added.

England as we all know is one of the best countries to host any ICC event because of the quality of stadiums and time zone which is feasible for most of the cricket viewers, if England Cricket Board is given this offer they can accept this because there should be no objection by England as they can get the stadiums ready for the 2024 T20 World Cup in eight to ten months. . Another important aspect of playing the World Cup in England is that the quality of cricket that is played in England is also much better as compared to the quality of pitches in the West Indies or the USA.

• ENGLAND IS ONE OF THE BEST OPTIONS TO HOST A WORLD CUP AS THEY HAVE ALSO DONE IT IN THE PAST, THEY HAVE ALSO HOSTED THE 2009 T20 WORLD CUP, AND AS WE KNOW THAT WORLD CUP WAS WON BY PAKISTAN.

England is also a very feasible option for the Pakistan Cricket Team because they have a very good record while playing in England – In the last two ICC tournaments played in England, Pakistan won the 2017 Champions Trophy and put up a very good show in the 2019 Cricket World Cup where they narrowly missed the Top 4.
