Rohit Sharma’s Brilliant Century Helped India Thrash Afghanistan In World Cup 2023:

A brilliant bowling spell by Jasprit Bumrah and then exceptional hitting by Rohit Sharma helped India thrash Afghanistan by a huge margin as India chased down the target in just 35 overs and won the match by 8 wickets.

The captain of Afghanistan, Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and chose to bat first against India at the Delhi stadium.

FIRST INNINGS:

Afghan openers tried to take on the Indian bowlers but could not do it properly as Gurbaz and Zadran were dismissed in the powerplay by Pandya and Bumrah.

Some good innings from the Afghan middle-order batters including the likes of the captain, Shahidi and Azmatullah. Shahidi scored a brilliant inning of 80 runs from 88 deliveries and Omarzai scored 62 runs on 69 deliveries against India.

Muhammad Nabi and Rashid Khan chipped in with some runs lower down the order as Afghanistan ended their innings on 272 runs after 50 overs.

In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah picked up four wickets in his 10 overs followed by Hardik Pandya who claimed two wickets. Thakur and Kuldeep also picked one wicket each in the match.

SECOND INNINGS:

In the run chase, the rest of the work was done by Rohit Sharma’s bat as he scored a magnificent 131 runs from 84 deliveries to see India home against Afghanistan.

India was off to a flyer against Afghanistan as they scored 94 runs in the first powerplay and some clean striking by Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan killed the game at the start.

Furthermore, a well compiled fifty by Virat Kohli and some runs from the bat of Shreyas Iyer as India completed their second victory in World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan.

The spin wizard of Afghanistan, Rashid Khan took two wickets against India while giving away 57 runs in 8 overs but this wasn’t enough as rest of all Afghani bowlers was taken to the cleaners by the Indian batters.
