Karachi Kings Out Of Psl 2023 – IMAD WASIM WITH PERSONAL MILESTONES IN PSL 8

As the Pakistan Super League 2023 has entered the latter part of the tournament as two teams are knocked out of the tournament in which one is Karachi Kings, the focus is more on KK this year because Karachi Kings minus Babar Azam this year under Imad Wasim’s captaincy was determined to do something else with their cricket and they were sure that have picked many match winners in their team.

And his statement in this regard was also under the radar before the start of PSL 8 when Imad Wasim said: “ we have tried to include match winners in our team, rather than players with personal milestones “ and this statement was interpreted as an indirect attack on their former captain Babar Azam and for that Imad Wasim and Karachi Kings were trolled highly by fans of Babar Azam amid their performances in PSL 2023 without Babar.

KARACHI KINGS PERFORMANCE IN PSL 2023:

Imad Wasim lead Karachi Kings this season had high hopes but all their hopes were gone as they were knocked out of the PSL 2023 in the first round and Imad Wasim who was their captain in their most successful season as champions had a horrible 2023 season with KK as captain in which he lost almost as many as games as Babar Azam last year.

IMAD’S PERFORMANCE IN PSL 2023:

Like Babar Azam in the previous season of PSL for KK, Imad Wasim as well has scored many runs in PSL 2023 in which he performed well with the bat but he was trolled badly by the cricket fans because the same was the case with Babar Azam when he used to score runs in PSL 2022 but couldn’t finish games for Karachi last season.

This season was a ditto copy of that but Imad was on the receiving end as he scored many runs with good SR, this was Imad’s best-ever PSL season with the bat which is not easy for any player to do so because Imad Wasim this season with the bat averages over 100 and his strike rate was more than 160 but still couldn’t finish games in PSL 8, tried his best for his team but was unable to cross the finish line in this season.

OUT OF FORM PLAYERS:

One of the major issues for Karachi Kings this season was almost the same like the previous one as they picked many players based on names but they couldn’t perform up to expectations because of their age factor or some technical issues, players like Sharjeel Khan, Haider Ali, Andrew Tye, and Shoaib Malik didn’t add any kind of value to the team in PSL 2023 edition which lead to many chop and changes in the team on regular intervals and which cost KK a horrible season.

THINGS WHICH WENT WRONG FOR KARACHI KINGS:

The main thing Karachi should learn from here is that they should invest on local core and young foreign players, maybe based on data or some other reasons Karachi Kings picked many old players in their platinum and diamond category as well which include players like Imran Tahir, Ben Cutting, Andrew Tye and others, they also benched Qasim Akram for the whole season who was literally the best domestic player and was up for grabbing a spot in the National T20 team with his PSL 2023 performances but KK had other plans as they didn’t gave him a full run in the 2023 tournament.

FINAL VERDICT:

As a comparison, we can take Peshawar Zalmi as the opposite of Karachi Kings who were almost the same after the draft period because both had their issues in their teams.

What PZ did well is that they had a road map and they followed that to build a team around Babar Azam, invested on local talent like Saim Ayub, Muhammad Haris, Haseebullah and in return they got some future stars for their team core whereas Karachi Kings are yet to think about their future as they didn’t gave any chance to the best youngster they had and the clarification given by Imad in this regard was not the first time when Imad said: “ Qasim is a good player but he doesn’t fits in our team combination ” yes you guessed it right Imad said the same for Muhammad Rizwan as well but that’s not the debate.

So, KK should learn from their mistakes and should focus on giving local talent a run to build their team around them for future.
