Former Pakistani Superstars Are In Line For The Role Of Chief Selector Of Pakistan
New Chief Selector Of Pakistan:
The position of the Chief Selector of the Pakistan team is vacant and Pakistan Cricket Board is looking for a former Pakistani player who can fill in the spot as the Chief Selector of the Pakistan team.
Zaka Ashraf, the new Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board has taken charge of the PCB and we all know, with changes at the top posts of the PCB, there are always changes expected in the management of the Pakistan Cricket Board as well.
When Zaka Ashraf took charge as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, the previous Chief Selector of the Pakistan team, Haroon Rashid announced on a local TV channel that he now has no post in the Pakistan Cricket Board and which means the new PCB office has to find a new Chief Selector for the Pakistan team.
MUHAMMAD HAFEEZ:
There were strong reports that Zaka Ashraf, the new PCB Chairman has offered the post of Chief Selector to the former Pakistani cricketer, Muhammad Hafeez and he is the front-runner to be the Chief Selector of the Pakistan team. It was almost certain that he will be the new Chief Selector of Pakistan.
Muhammad Hafeez, who recently retired from international cricket and still plays in T20 leagues all around the world has a good knowledge of modern cricket and that’s why he was quite able for this post but now there are reports that Muhammad Hafeez isn’t willing to take up this role of Chief Selector of the Pakistan team and PCB has to continue their search for new CS of Pakistan.
MOIN KHAN:
Another name that is in circulation is the name of the former Pakistani wicket-keeper, Moin Khan who as per the reports is another candidate presented to the PCB Chairman, Zaka Ashraf but we can’t say anything more about him being the Chief Selector of the Pakistan team.
MISBAH UL HAQ:
The former captain of the Pakistan team, Misbah Ul Haq is another option for the role of Chief Selector of the Pakistan team. He also worked previously as the Chief Selector as well as the Head Coach of the Pakistan team and has a quite good reputation in Pakistan cricket. He can be a candidate again for the post if an agreement takes place between the PCB Chairman and the former Pakistani captain, Misbah Ul Haq.
In 2019, Misbah Ul Haq took charge as the Chief Selector as well as the Head Coach of the Pakistan team, and this appointment was one of his kind in the history of Pakistan cricket. Misbah Ul Haq was appointed on a 3-year contract but due to losses in international cricket, he resigned from the post of Chief Selector at the end of 2020. He worked with Pakistan for one more year and eventually resigned in 2021 as the Head Coach of the Pakistan team as well.
WHY IS IT DIFFICULT FOR PCB TO HIRE SOMEONE?
PCB is also facing difficulty in finding a suitable person to hand over the post of Chief Selector of the Pakistan team because as we all know, job security is not there in the Pakistan Cricket Board because the General Elections are also just around the corner and change in Government of Pakistan will definitely affect some top posts in the PCB.
Another important reason is that whoever agrees to take this job, he has to be ready to face media pressure and criticism from fans whenever the team performs badly in international cricket. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is just approaching and that’s why if anyone takes up this job, his first assignment will be to pick a team for the World Cup in India and he will have to take up the responsibility for Pakistan’s performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
