New Zealand continues their winning streak as they thrashed the Netherlands comfortably by 99 runs and are now placed at the top of the World Cup points table.

The captain of the Netherlands, Scot Edwards won the toss and chose to field first in their second match of the World Cup 2023 against New Zealand.

FIRST INNINGS:

Kiwi openers gave a solid start to their team in the powerplay where Conway and Young didn’t lose their wicket and gave New Zealand a good start.

Will Young scored a well-compiled 70 runs off 80 deliveries, as well as some valuable contributions from the Kiwi middle order including a quick-fire fifty from Tom Latham who scored 53 runs in 46 deliveries, smashing six fours and one six in his knock.

A good end to the innings by New Zealand as Santner smashed an unbeaten 36 runs off just 17 deliveries to get the total to 322 after playing 50 overs.

SECOND INNINGS:

In the run chase, Mat Henry and Mitchell Santner struck early as both openers of the Netherlands were sent back to the pavilion for just 12 and 16 runs respectively.

Some resistance in the middle order was shown by Ackerman who scored 69 runs on 73 deliveries with five fours in the run chase.

Furthermore, an attacking innings of the captain, Scot Edwards also went in vain who scored 30 runs on 27 deliveries with two fours and one six.

The rest of the batters of the Netherlands could not contribute much in the run chase as the team was dismissed for 220 in the run chase of 323 runs.

Mitchell Santner was the start of the match who picked up five wickets in the match after giving away 59 runs in his 10 overs, to go with his 37 unbeaten runs in the batting.

Matt Henry also picked up three wickets in the match in return for 40 runs he conceded in his 8.3 overs. Rachin Ravindra also picked up one wicket in his 10 overs.
