PAK Vs NED 2023: Brilliant Bowling From Pakistan As They Beat Netherlands In The First World Cup Match

PAK VS NED 2023:

Pakistan were in a spot of bother but a brilliant bowling effort from Pakistan helped them defend a total of 286 runs against the Netherlands.

The captain of the Netherlands team, Scot Edwards won the toss and chose to bowl first in the first match of the World Cup 2023.

FIRST INNINGS:

Pakistan were in a state of bother as they lost three early wickets in the form of Imam Ul Haq, Fakhar Zaman, and Babar Azam and were struggling in the powerplay.

Muhammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel batted brilliantly in the middle overs after some early wickets. Muhammad Rizwan scored 68 runs off 75 deliveries and Saud Shakeel also scored 68 runs off just 52 deliveries.

Some crucial runs were contributed by the lower middle order as well, including runs from the bat of Shadab Khan, Muhammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf to get the total up to 286 in 49 overs.

Bad de Leede was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 4 wickets in the match after giving away just 62 runs in 9 overs. Ackerman picked two wickets and one wicket each for Aryan, Beek, and Meekeren.

SECOND INNINGS:

In the run chase, Hassan Ali struck early in the powerplay to send Mac O’Dowd back to the pavilion but Vikramjit Singh and Ackerman batted well in the powerplay.

Vikramjit Singh scored 52 off 67 deliveries and made a good partnership with Bas de Leede who scored 67 runs on 68 deliveries, with six fours and two sixes.

The Netherlands were cruising in the run chase comfortably before Haris Rauf created havoc in the middle order as he picked up the wickets of Nidamanuru and Edwards in one over.

In the end, a collective bowling effort from Pakistani batters helped them restrict the Netherlands to 205 runs and as a result, Pakistan won the match comfortably by 81 runs.

Haris Rauf was on song as he picked up three crucial wickets for just 43 runs in his 9 overs, followed by Hassan Ali who picked up 2 wickets after giving away just 33 runs in 7 overs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Muhammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed all picked a wicket each to help Pakistan win the first match of the World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands.
