PAKISTAN’S UPCOMING WTC CYCLE 2023:

Pakistan Cricket Team is scheduled to play a total of 14 Tests and 6 Test series in the upcoming WTC Cycle, they have to win as many as they could to keep their hopes high for the WTC Final.

ICC World Test Championship is a tournament that is organized by the International Cricket Council to build some interest in TEST cricket in this tournament. The Final of the WTC cycle is held after every two years and a TEST Mace is given to the winner as the best TEST team in the world.


All the teams that play TEST cricket have to play six series each in the ICC World Test Championship Cycle, out of those six series, every team has to play three series at home and three away series, and after that the points percentage will matter on who will go through into the finals.

ICC WORLD TEST CHAMPIONSHIP 2023 – 25:

Pakistan has not qualified for the WTC Final in the last two Cycles but once again there is a new day and a new start to the Cycle is just around the cycle. Pakistan Cricket Team will definitely want to turn their fortunes around this time.

Pakistan has a good mix of series scheduled for the WTC Cycle, Pakistan will play against different teams at home and away and all of the series are going to be tough for the Pakistan team especially since they have to play some good quality TEST cricket if they want to do something different in this WTC Cycle as they have two away fixtures against Australia and South Africa which will make it difficult to qualify for the Test Championship Final 2025.

FIXTURES OF PAKISTAN IN WTC 2023 – 25 CYCLE:

For the Pakistan team to qualify for the World Test Championship Final in the next Cycle, the schedule of the six TEST series that Pakistan will play under the captaincy of Babar Azam in the upcoming WTC Cycle is as follows;

PAKISTAN’S TOUR TO SRILANKA 2023:

Pakistan is to start its journey in the Next World Test Championship Cycle under Babar Azam with the TEST series against Srilanka, this two-match TEST series is scheduled to be played in JULY, 2023.

Pakistan team last year played an away series in Srilanka as well which Pakistan couldn’t win and the series was drawn after 1-0 down, Babar Azam’s heroics on a rank turner helped Pakistan to win the second TEST match and Pakistan will hope that they can cross the line this time as these are very important points to starts the next cycle.

PAKISTAN’S TOUR TO AUSTRALIA 2023 – 24:

The second assignment of the Pakistan Team is again a tough one as the opponent is the Australia team that too away from home, and we all know how Pakistan has fared against this strong Australia team is at their home ground and they are the winner of the previous WTC Cycle as well.

This three-match TEST series against Australia will be played in the DEC – JAN, at the end of this year and the schedule of this series is also announced, which is as follows;

FIRST TESTDEC, 14 – 18
SECOND TESTDEC 26 – 30
THIRD TESTJAN, 3 – 7

WINDIES TOUR TO PAKISTAN 2024:

After two TEST series away from home to start the upcoming World Test Championship Cycle, Pakistan will return to their home turf as they are scheduled to play a two-match TEST series against the West Indies.

This TEST series is scheduled to play at the start of next year in the dates around FEB – MARCH, and Pakistan should win this TEST series as this is a relatively easy task to do for the Pakistan team so they should win this series.

BANGLADESH’S TOUR TO PAKISTAN 2024:

The two-match TEST series against West Indies will be followed by another two-match TEST series against the Bangladesh team, Bangladesh has once toured Pakistan in the first WTC Cycle, and then Pakistan toured Bangladesh in the last Cycle and Pakistan thrashed Bangladesh in both TEST series played so far in World Test Championship Cycles.

This two-match TEST series is scheduled to be played against Bangladesh in AUGUST – SEPTEMBER, and this series like other series will also hold a very important key for the Pakistan team because they have to win all the home TESTS to stay in hunt for the WTC Final this time.

ENGLAND’S TOUR TO PAKISTAN 2024:

Pakistan is to play its third consecutive home TEST series against the modified English team in OCTOBER, 2024 next year. They had a great time in Pakistan in the last WTC Cycle and once again they will head back toward Pakistan for their WTC scheduled TEST matches.

A three-match TEST series against England is the most exciting contest in the WTC Cycle for Pakistan as Pakistan has a chance to level the points with England team because they thrashed Pakistan in the last WTC Cycle so here is the chance but it will do some taking against England’s approach.

PAKISTAN’S TOUR TO SOUTH AFRICA 2024 – 25:

Pakistan Cricket Team will end their World Test Championship campaign against the Proteas in the DEC – JAN, it will be a two-match TEST series of Pakistan against South Africa.

This TEST series is not gonna be easy for Pakistan to win, even though in the last WTC Cycle, Pakistan thrashed South Africa at home, but things are different this time as they are a very strong side at their home and Pakistan hasn’t even played any TEST match in South Africa since 4-5 years.

POINTS DIVISION –

  • EACH TEST IN THE WORLD TEST CHAMPIONSHIP HAS A WEIGHTAGE OF 12 POINTS
  • FOUR POINTS WILL BE AWARDED TO EACH TEAM IF THERE IS A DRAW
  • NO POINTS ARE AWARDED FOR A LOSS
  • TEAM CAN LOSS POINTS BECAUSE OF SLOW OVER-RATE WHICH IS VERY PAINFUL SOMETIMES
