PCB AND BCCI AGREEMENT – ACC TO ACCEPT THE HYBRID MODEL, PAKISTAN TO TOUR INDIA FOR WORLD CUP 2023

PCB AND BCCI AGREEMENT:

As per the latest reports, the Hybrid Model proposed by the PCB has been accepted and Pakistan will host four matches of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament.

After a huge tussle between both boards, things now seem to be moving in the right direction as Indian Media reports that the Hybrid Model proposed by Najam Sethi for the 2023 Asia Cup is expected to be approved in the next week by the Asian Cricket Council and it will be a good step towards the future.

The model proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board and Najam Sethi in the Asian Cricket Council related to the hosting of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament is as follows;

  • THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE DIVIDED INTO TWO PHASES.
  • THE FIRST PHASE WILL BE HELD IN PAKISTAN AND THE OTHER PHASE WILL BE PLAYED IN SRILANKA.
  • IN THE INITIAL PHASE, PAKISTAN WILL HOST FOUR MATCHES IN THEIR COUNTRY OF THE ASIA CUP 2023 TOURNAMENT.
  • IN THE SECOND PHASE, SRILANKA WILL HOST THE REMAINING NINE GAMES OF THE 2023 ASIA CUP TOURNAMENT.
  • ALL THE INDIA VS PAKISTAN MATCHES WILL BE PLAYED IN SRILANKA.

ASIA CUP 2023 MATCHES IN PAKISTAN:


As per the proposed model, only four matches will be played in Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 tournament, all the teams except India will play their pool matches in Pakistan – Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Srilanka, and Afghanistan will play matches in Pakistan, the matches that are expected to be played in Pakistan are as follows;

VENUE FOR ASIA CUP 2023 IN PAKISTAN – It is expected that the four games that are scheduled to play in Pakistan of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament will be played at Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore.

PAKISTAN VS INDIA ASIA CUP 2023 MATCHES:

As per the proposed model of the Pakistan Cricket Board, all the matches of India vs Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 tournament will be played at a neutral venue, the matches of India vs Pakistan are expected to be in Srilanka this year in the 2023 Asia Cup.

REPORTS OF INDIAN MEDIA:

The Press Trust of India has reported that according to their sources from the Asian Cricket Council, an ACC board member has confirmed that all the countries are ready to play the Asia Cup 2023 as per the Hybrid Model and they have no objection to playing some matches in Pakistan.

Previously, Press Trust of India reported that Jay Shah is not ready to accept the Hybrid Model of Pakistan Cricket Board in any case and it is proposed that the tournament will be played at a neutral venue, i.e. Srilanka, but now it seems like sense has prevailed and BCCI is ready to accept the Hybrid Model proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board for the betterment of cricket.

The Pakistan Cricket Board proposed a model for the Asia Cup 2023 to be played in two countries, Pakistan and Srilanka and ACC has accepted the model, reports by Press Trust of India (PTI).

PAK TO PLAY WORLD CUP 2023:

The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Najam Sethi also threatened the International authorities that if India will not accept the Hybrid Model, they will not play the Asia Cup 2023 outside Pakistan and there will be uncertainty about Pakistan playing in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup as well and in that regard, the top ICC officials also visited Pakistan to cool down the matter as this will affect the World Cup later this year in India.

Now as per the reports, Indian Cricket Board has taken a U-Turn from their stance on Asia Cup 2023 and with that, Pakistan Cricket Board will also be ready to play the 2023 Cricket World Cup in India later this year. Indian Media has also reported that the venues of Pakistan for the 2023 Cricket World Cup are also finalized and the official announcement is expected soon.
