Pakistan Super League is one of the most popular cricket leagues all around the world. The upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League 2024, the ninth edition of the premium T20 tournament of Pakistan is scheduled to be played next year in February 2024.

PSL 2024 DETAILS:
The Pakistan Super League is a franchise-based T20 tournament, organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Like all other T20 tournaments, many international stars feature in this tournament all with the local talent of Pakistani players. This tournament was inaugurated in 2016 and since then, every year this tournament is played and has enjoyed huge success all over the world. The details of the PSL 2024 are as follows;

PSL 2024 SCHEDULE:
Pakistan Super League is a T20 tournament that is played every year on the same dates because a specific window for this league is reserved by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The PSL 2024 is expected to be played on the same dates of FEB – MARCH, but there are rumors that the PSL 2024 will be started a week or two earlier because of the upcoming ICC World T20 2024, which is scheduled to be played next year after the Pakistan Super League 2024 edition.
Even though the dates of the PSL 2024 are not confirmed yet but as per the sources, the upcoming PSL 2024 edition will be played in JAN – FEB, 2024.
PSL 2024 FORMAT:
The PSL 2024 edition will be played on a DOUBLE ROUND – ROBIN AND PLAYOFFS FORMAT and it’s the same format on which this tournament is played since the start of this tournament.
In ROUND – ROBIN format, every teams plays the other team in their group stage matches and after a certain number of matches, the top four teams on the points table progress through to the playoffs of the tournament, the final match of the tournament decides the winner of the Pakistan Super League.

Pakistan Super League, the tournament that started in 2016 has five teams and then one more team, Multan Sultans was added to the mix. Since then, there are six teams that take part in this tournament, and those six teams are as follows;

PSL 2024 NEW TEAMS:
According to the media reports, there is news that two more teams are expected to be added to the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League in the upcoming season. The PSL 2024 is reported to be played with a potential of eight teams next year and Javed Afridi has also confirmed this on his social media handle as well.
Javed Afridi, the owner of the PSL franchise, Peshawar Zalmi confirmed during a Q&A session on his social media that two more teams will be added to the upcoming editions of the Pakistan Super Leagues. He replied to a comment regarding the query related to the cities of new teams in PSL 2024 and Javed Afridi quoted with ‘’ SIALKOT AND FAISALABAD ‘’.
However there is nothing official yet about the addition of new teams in PSL 2024 but if Javed Afridi has the same something, we all know he is a very important member of Pakistan Cricket and you have to value his words.

MULTAN SULTANS OWNER – The owner of Multan Sultans ‘’ Alamgir Khan Tareen ‘’ who was the brother of ‘’ Jahangir Tareen ‘’, was found dead in his house. It is reported that he committed suicide as he shot himself in the head.
The new owner of the franchise is not announced yet but it is expected that ‘’ Ali Tareen ‘’, the son of the famous Pakistani politician ‘’ Jahangir Khan Tareen ‘’ is expected to take over the franchise as he is also a passionate cricket fan and is also seen in the management of Multan Sultans franchise.

- The official announcement regarding the captain of the Quetta Gladiators team for the PSL 2024 is not done yet, even though, Sarfaraz Ahmed isn’t expected to leave Quetta Gladiators this season. As his career is coming to an end now, the franchise management might look towards a new one who can lead the team in the future and Muhammad Nawaz will be the top candidate to replace Sarfaraz Ahmed in PSL 2024 as captain.

PSL 2024 PLAYER RETENTION:
The player’s retentions by the respective franchises for the PSL 2024 are expected to be done just before the DRAFT of the PSL 2024 is scheduled and the list is released by the franchises in the first or second week of NOVEMBER.

PSL 2024 DRAFT:
The draft for the HBL PSL 2024 edition is scheduled to be done a month before the start of the HBL PSL tournament. As per the reports, the PSL 2024 season’s draft will be held in the first week of DECEMBER 2023. Every team finalizes their squad for the tournament that will be played in JAN – FEB next year.
PSL 2024 DRAFTING CRITERIA:
Drafting is a phenomenon through which the players are picked in the Pakistan Super League as per the turn of franchises from the registered players, the players are paid according to the salary bracket in which they have registered themselves for the Pakistan Super League. The draft category is divided into five different portions, each with a different salary range, and the categories are as follows;
CATEGORIES DIVISION –
The first category is the PLATINUM CATEGORY in which three players are allowed by each franchise and is the top tier category of the PSL, three players can be picked in the DIAMOND CATEGORY as well as the GOLD CATEGORY. A total of five players can be picked in the SILVER CATEGORY and only two players are allowed in the EMERGING CATEGORY of the Pakistan Super League draft.
SUPPLEMENTARY CATEGORY – A category in which every PSL franchise can pick three-four players from any of the players that are registered in the draft and remain unpicked in the first round of the HBL PSL draft, but this is not compulsory.
PSL 2024 SALARIES:
The salary range for every category in the HBL PSL 2024 season is as follows;
