Quetta Gladiators New Captain For PSL 2024 – QG New Captain PSL 9
Pakistan’s former captain and the current captain of PSL team Quetta Gladiators hasn’t missed any game for his team in Pakistan Super League since 2016 when this tournament was started and since that day he has played 80 matches consecutively for Quetta Gladiators and is a record which Sarfaraz Ahmed hold in Pakistan Super League history.
SARFARAZ AHMED INJURY:
In his second last match of PSL 2023, Sarfaraz Ahmed while keeping to Naseem Shah took a blow on his finger and after some overs he left the field as well, Quetta managed to win that match vs Karachi Kings but Sarfaraz seemed to be hurted himself and that was the case as well, and Sarfaraz Ahmed after two days wasn’t recovered well and in result he missed the last game of the HBL PSL 2023.
SARFARAZ AHMED’S RECORD:
So because of his finger injury the former National captain missed his first match of the Pakistan Super League 2023 which means his streak of matches since the PSL started ended on that day, Sarfaraz Ahmed was about a PSL game for Quetta Gladiators after more than 8 years and with a total of 2588 days for his side and that’s not an easy record for anyone in any franchise cricket.
NEW CAPTAIN OF QG:
In his absence Quetta’s regular captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, their another star all-rounder was given the opportunity to captain his franchise team with which he has also linked 8 years ago and is still going strong, there were also speculations that Nawaz should’ve been given the captaincy of the Quetta Gladiators after it’s been 4 years that Quetta Gladiator is underperforming to its potential under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed and destiny gave him a chance in the last match of HBL PSL so that he can lead his franchise team and maybe this can be a start of the new era of Quetta Gladiators under Muhammad Nawaz.
SARFARAZ’S RECORD AS PSL CAPTAIN:
Pakistan’s former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as we all know is always named as a very tactically strong T20 captain and has an excellent record as captain of Pakistan as well, the same success story was repeated for Quetta Gladiators as well till the HBL PSL 5TH season.
Sarfaraz Ahmed enjoyed great success and was also crowned champions of the HBL PSL once but after that his record as a captain in PSL is horrible, and from PSL 2021 to PSL 2023 the record of captaincy for Quetta Gladiators is so poor that u can’t imagine a captain like Sarfaraz can have this poor record but it is as it is and the stats of Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain are as follows;

Sarfaraz Ahmed’s record as captain also dented his batting abilities and the reason he was awful with the bat as well after the Pakistan Super League came back totally in Pakistan, these things were also followed by the age factor because the National hero of Champions Trophy winner was also getting to the end of his career and maybe this can be the start of a new era for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League.
QG PERMANENT CAPTAIN:
All-rounder Muhammad Nawaz was given the responsibility to captain his franchise team because Sarfaraz Ahmed was injured in the PSL 2023 but will the franchise take this call that Sarfaraz Ahmed’s time as captain should end now and it’s time to give Muhammad Nawaz this responsibility permanently we shall find out in the next season but if Quetta has to move forward and think for the future they should take the call now and it will be better for Muhammad Nawaz also to learn from the best Pakistan ever got in T20 cricket, time will tell what will happen in future.
