The top-ranked ODI batsman in the world, Babar Azam is currently the captain of the Pakistan team in all three formats of the game.

The former Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Malik expressed his views on Babar Azam’s captaincy and he said that Babar Azam should think of stepping down as captain of Pakistan.

On a local TV channel, the veteran Pakistani cricketer talked about the performance of Babar Azam as captain and also picked his replacement as Pakistan’s captain.

Shoaib Malik believes that Babar Azam should leave the captaincy burden as he has the potential to go on and become one of the best batters in the history of Pakistan cricket.

‘’ I gave my opinion in the past as well that Babar Azam should leave captaincy. It’s my personal opinion as I think that Babar Azam does not think out of the box as captain. He is doing captaincy but without any improvement. He can do wonders for Pakistan as a player ‘’, Shoaib Malik added.

The former Pakistani captain, Shoaib Malik doesn’t rule out the possibility of Babar Azam resigning as captain and if this happens, he picks Shaheen Afridi to replace Babar Azam because of his past records as the captain in the Pakistan Super League.

‘’ Shaheen Afridi should become the captain in white ball cricket in case Babar Azam resigns. He has done an attacking captaincy for Lahore Qalandars ‘’, he concluded.

The left-arm Pakistani pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi has an excellent record as the captain of Lahore Qalandars in the PSL. He has also led Lahore Qalandars to back-to-back trophy wins as captain in the PSL.

The Pakistani skipper, Babar Azam is currently leading the Pakistan ODI team in the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 that is being played in India.
