Indian cricketer, Ravi Ashwin states that Pakistan is one of the favorites to win the Asia Cup 2023 and the World Cup 2023.

The veteran Indian cricketer believes that Pakistan is one of the best sides in the world right now but the future of Pakistan in these tournaments will be decided by the performances of Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan.

On his YouTube channel, Ashwin said that if Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan can perform exceptionally for Pakistan, they will be a side to beat in the Asia Cup and World Cup.

‘’ If Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan give consistent performances with the bat for Pakistan, then Pakistan is going to be an exceptional team in the Asia Cup and World Cup. It will take some beating ‘’, Ashwin added.

Why Is Pakistan Favorite To Win Asia Cup 2023?

The Indian cricketer, Ravi Ashwin also explained the reason behind picking Pakistan as one of the favorites to win the Asia Cup 2023.

He thinks that Pakistani players are well equipped to play in Sri Lanka as nine out of thirteen games will be played in Sri Lanka, and it will be an advantage to Pakistan.

‘’ This year’s Asia Cup will be mostly played in Sri Lanka. Who else is more equipped to play in Sri Lanka than Pakistan? Because almost all the foreigners in the Lanka Premier League are Pakistanis ‘’, he concluded.

Ashwin’s Analysis On Pakistan Team:

Ashwin also explained the reason behind the success of Pakistan in the big tournaments in the past 5-6 years, he also believes Babar and Rizwan are the pillars that are holding this team together.

‘’ Pakistan side 5-6 years back used to struggle in big tournaments like Asia Cup and World Cup. Yes, they have won big tournaments in the past. They have won the 1992 World Cup and some consistent performances in the T20 World Cup. The main reason for the last 5-6 year’s performances is Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan ‘’, he further added.

‘’ It all comes down to their squad depth. Pakistan have always produced extraordinary cricketer, because of tap ball cricket, they always had fast bowling coming through their ranks. Their batting has been special in the late 90s and 2000s ‘’, he further added.

The Indian cricketer also emphasized the importance of Leagues in world cricket and how Pakistani players have re-emerged because of their exposure in different leagues all around the world.

‘’ Their exposure to the different leagues is the major reason for their re-emergence in the last 5-6 years. They have PSL. In the recent BBL drafts, there were at least 60-70 Pakistan players ‘’, Ashwin concluded.

The 2023 Asia Cup tournament is scheduled to be played from 30 AUGUST, 2023 to 17 SEPTEMBER, 2023 and the matches will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
