Babar Azam LPL 2023:
Pakistan’s all-format captain, Babar Azam has been signed in the Lanka Premier League by the Colombo Strikers for the 2023 season, but his participation in the tournament can be in doubt because of some international commitments with Pakistan.
Babar Azam hasn’t played much T20 leagues across the globe because of his international duties and once again some upcoming assignments of the Pakistan team can lead to some availability issues to Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam in the Lanka Premier League 2023.
LANKA PREMIER LEAGUE 2023 SCHEDULE:
The upcoming edition of the Lanka Premier League 2023 is scheduled to be played from JULY 31, 2023 to AUGUST 22, 2023 and the captain of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam is expected to make his Lanka Premier League debut this season as he has been signed in this tournament by Colombo Strikers.
BABAR AZAM AVAILABILITY IN LPL 2023:
Even though, he was signed directly by the Colombo Strikers and was not registered in the LPL 2023 auction, the owner of the Colombo Strikers, Sagar Khanna met Babar Azam personally and then it was officially revealed that Babar Azam will be seen in action at the Lanka Premier League 2023.
The availability of Babar Azam for the tournament would’ve definitely kept in check, when he was signed in by the Colombo Strikers, because at the moment there are no official dates for any international series of the Pakistan team, when the Lanka Premier League is scheduled to be played in Srilanka.
- The official dates of any series of Pakistan is not announced but there is an international series pending as Pakistan is scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan team in August 2023, before the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.
If this series is confirmed by Pakistan Cricket Board, there might be some availability issues of Babar Azam in Lanka Premier League, because don’t expect Babar Azam to play LPL 2023 rather than leading Pakistan against Afghanistan that too just before the World Cup 2023, and that’s why this series is also very important for preparation of the Pakistan team.
PAKISTAN VS AFGHANISTAN ODI SERIES SCHEDULE:
Pakistan and Afghanistan are expected to play a three-match test series against each other in the second week of AUGUST 2023, and if this series is scheduled officially, the captain of the Pakistan team will be partially available for the Lanka Premier League 2023 tournament.
BABAR AZAM’S JOINING TO COLOMBO SRIKERS:
Pakistani captain, Babar Azam will travel to Srilanka in the first week of July because the next assignment of Babar Azam is to lead Pakistan team against Srilanka in a two-match TEST series that will be played from JULY 16, 2023 – JULY 28, 2023, the Lanka Premier League 2023 is scheduled to be played from JULY 31, 2023, just after two days of the Pakistan vs Srilanka test series and Babar Azam is expected to join Colombo Strikers straight after the completion of the test series.
Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Muhammad Nawaz will be in action for the Pakistan team in the TEST series against Srilanka and are also roped in by the Colombo Strikers for the 2023 Lanka Premier League. All these three players will join the squad of the Colombo Strikers just after the test series between Pakistan and Srilanka is completed at the end of this month.
In addition to that, Colombo Strikers have also picked Iftikhar Ahmed, and Wahab Riaz for the upcoming edition of the Lanka Premier League 2023 season.
