BABAR AZAM TAKES ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS THE #1:

Babar Azam, who struggled at the start of his career has now been in great form in TEST cricket as well and is moving upwards for the #1 TEST Rankings as he has been moved up in the top 4 TEST batters of the world.

In the weekly update, the captain of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam has surpassed Joe Root to take his spot and has now become the Number 4TH Ranked TEST batter in the world. The English legend, Joe Root who recently played a TEST match against Ireland couldn’t perform up to his potential and therefore faces the cut of points. As a result, he loses one spot and is now dropped to the Number 5 position in the latest ICC TEST Batsmen Rankings.

Even though Joe Root didn’t perform badly with the bat but his innings of 56 runs in the one innings he played in the TEST match wasn’t enough to retain his spot in the ICC TEST Rankings for batsmen and Babar Azam climbs up one spot in the rankings.

  • Joe Root started the TEST series against Ireland with 871 rating points and after one half-century in one inning, he faced a slight drop and a cut of 10 rating points, and ended up with 861 rating points in the weekly updated ICC Rankings – Pakistani captain Babar Azam got the reward as he moves up in the latest rankings.

In the one-off TEST match against Ireland, Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett made huge jumps because of their fireworks at the top for the English Team – Ollie Pope on the back of his brilliant double-century moved up 11 spots and is now ranked in the top 25 TEST batters in the world followed by Ben Duckett who eventually missed out on a double-century but his knock of 182 runs helped him to move up 9 spots and to be placed in the top 35 ranked TEST batters of the world.

The right-handed batsman, Marnus Labuschange who is a top performer for the Australian team sits on top of the ICC Men’s Player Test Rankings with 915 rating points, he is followed by New Zealand’s batting maestro Kane Williamson with 883 points and the third one on the list of ICC rankings is the run-machine in TEST cricket, Steven Smith with 872 rating points.

  • BOTH THE AUSTRALIAN BATTERS ARE SCHEDULED TO PLAY A TEST MATCH AGAINST INDIA AS THE FINAL OF THE WORLD TEST CHAMPIONSHIP – IF INDIA CAN GET STEVEN SMITH OUT EARLY IT WILL ALSO BENEFIT BABAR AZAM AS THERE IS ONLY A DIFFERENCE OF 10 RATING BETWEEN BABAR AZAM AND STEVE SMITH.

The second-best batsman from Pakistan in the latest ICC TEST Rankings is Saud Shakeel who has just played 6 TEST matches for Pakistan and he sits at the 29TH spot followed by the TEST opener of the Pakistan team, Imam-Ul-Haq with 614 rating points each, shows us the importance of Babar Azam in the Pakistan Test Team.

The top Pakistani bowler in the latest ICC Bowlers TEST Rankings is the left-arm pacer of Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi who secured his fifth spot in the latest ICC Rankings update with 787 rating points just above India’s Jasprit Bumrah who hasn’t played any match since a long time.

Pakistan Cricket Team is scheduled to play their next TEST series against Sri Lanka, the two-match TEST series against Sri Lanka will be played next month. The top players of Pakistan like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah, Saud Shakeel, Imam, etc. will be seen in action against Sri Lanka as this series will be a part of the next World Test Championship Cycle.
