Chief Selector, Inzamam Ul Haq Backs Babar Azam As All Format Captain Of Pakistan

Chief Selector Inzamam Ul Haq:

Inzamam Ul Haq in his press conference acknowledged the performance of Babar Azam and backed him as captain to lead Pakistan in all formats of Pakistan.

The new Chief Selector announced the team for Pakistan vs Afghanistan series and Asia Cup 2023, he was asked to give his verdict on Babar Azam’s captain in all formats for Pakistan.

The Chief Selector of Pakistan, Inzamam Ul Haq supported Babar Azam, that he should remain as the captain of Pakistan as he thinks that he is leading Pakistan well in all formats.

Inzamam Ul Haq in his latest conference expresses that he thinks, there should be one captain in all formats of the Pakistan team, and captaincy is an art that a player learns by experience. Inzamam also gave the example of his previous tenure when Sarfaraz Ahmed was the captain of the Pakistan team in all three formats.

‘’ For me, captaincy is that you learn after some experience and there should be one captain in all formats. In my previous tenure, Sarfaraz Ahmed was the all-format captain of the Pakistan team ‘’, Inzamam Ul Haq added.

He further said that we should have one captain for all formats if the player is playing all three formats and is performing well and Babar Azam fits into that criteria. He feels that if there is one captain, he will know how to take the team forward in the future.

‘’ We should not change much in captaincy, I think Babar Azam is doing great captaincy. I feel, there should be one captain of all three formats. If he plays and is a regular performer for Pakistan in all formats. So, he should know how he has to take his players forward ‘’, Inzamam Ul Haq further added.

Inzamam Ul Haq opens up on his mindset regarding the captaincy of the Pakistan team but he also said that changing the captain is not in his domain, and we all know that captaincy change is in the hands of the PCB Chairman.

‘’ This is my mindset regarding captaincy but the captaincy is not in my domain ‘’ he concluded.

Babar Azam has led Pakistan to a 4-1 thumping win against New Zealand in the ODI series at home and Pakistan was ranked #2 in ODI cricket after the new rankings, under the captaincy of Babar Azam. He has also led Pakistan to a 2-0 victory against Srilanka in an away test series and that ends every debate on Babar Azam’s captaincy of the Pakistan team because he is performing brilliantly in all formats.

The next assignment of Babar Azam is to lead the Pakistan team in three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, which will be followed by the Asia Cup 2023 tournament.

Babar Azam is also expected to be the captain of the Pakistan team in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, there will be no surprise in this decision as Babar Azam is leading Pakistan in all formats for a long time and he will lead the team in the ICC mega event as well.
