EURO-ASIA CUP 2023 – SALMAN BUTT REVEALS HIS THOUGHTS

EURO-ASIA CUP 2023 AS AN OPTION FOR PCB:

Former Pakistani cricketer, Salman Butt gave his views on some new possibilities related to the Asia Cup 2023 and expressed his concern over the hosting of the year’s Asia Cup.

The head of the PCB management committee, Najam Sethi is nowadays the talk of the town because of his efforts to save the Asia Cup 2023 as India is creating all possible hurdles in his way to host a successful Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan.

He has also given many hybrid models and possible proposals related to the Asia Cup 2023 so that every team can agree at some point and so that Pakistan can host the Asia Cup in their country.

Najam Sethi recently gave an interview to an Indian news channel, he recently proposed the Idea of hosting the Asia Cup 2023 in England as a neutral venue just because India is not ready to play the Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan at any cost.

‘’ England could be a possibility as a venue for the Asia Cup ‘’, Najam Sethi named England as an option to host the Asia Cup 2023 this year.

Salman Butt, the former Pakistani cricketer expressed his concerns over this statement from Najam Sethi that England can be an option for the Asia Cup 2023. He said that this doesn’t make any sense, stating what type of message this statement will give to the world, and that we couldn’t find a single venue in Asia where Asia Cup can be held.

‘’ A neutral venue is not good for Asia Cup, it will not make any sense as it will mean that there is not a single venue in Asia where we can host Asia Cup ‘’, Salman Butt on his concerns about the venue of the Asia Cup.

EURO-ASIA CUP:

The former Pakistani cricketer also gave a suggestion in this regard that if they want to keep England as an option then you can just include some teams from Europe (England, Ireland, and the Netherlands) and can call this ‘’ EURO- ASIA CUP ‘’ which will then be a much bigger tournament than the Asia Cup otherwise what is the point of hosting a tournament out of Asia which is especially for ASIAN teams.

‘’ If you are really thinking about England as an option then you can also include England in it and make it EURO-ASIA CUP. In the past, AUSTRAL-ASIA CUP used to take place in which Australia participated – you can also think of including IRELAND and NETHERLANDS as well in the mix of things so that it would be like a World Cup event, as it will have six teams from Asia and four from Europe ‘’, Salman Butt on EURO-ASIA CUP as an option for future.

A proposed idea by the former Pakistani cricketer, but this can also be a reality, if you can really think of something like that this can be called a MINI-WORLD CUP for all the teams and Salman Butt mentioned, Austral-Asia Cup was also played with the similar pattern and we can think of something like that again as well to bring something new in the game.

  • AUSTRAL-ASIA CUP WAS A TOURNAMENT THAT WAS PLAYED FROM 1986 – 1994, AND SIX TEAMS USED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS TOURNAMENT. THREE EDITIONS WERE HELD OF THIS TOURNAMENT AND ALL WERE WON BY THE PAKISTAN TEAM.
