Mickey Arthur Revealed Icc World Cup 2023 Pakistan Squad
ICC WORLD CUP 2023 Pak Squad:
Mickey Arthur, the director of the Pakistan team reveals the players that will feature in the world cup squad of Pakistan, as well as speaks about the future of some Pakistani cricketers.
In an interview, Mickey Arthur reveals the players that are expected to be a part of the squad for the upcoming mega events – Asia Cup 2023 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 that are scheduled to be played this year.
The recently appointed Director of the Pakistan team, Mickey Arthur has also confirmed that there won’t be any such changes in the 2023 World Cup squad and the players would be the same, who played the 2023 ODI series vs New Zealand.
‘’ We picked a squad that played against New Zealand, and this is the squad we are going to pick for the upcoming tournaments. Haris Sohail was in that squad but he didn’t play because of fitness issues. The squad we had for the New Zealand series will be the squad that will go for the mega events and there won’t be much difference ‘’, he added.
Mickey Arthur says that there some players from the New Zealand ODI series might miss out when we had to name a 15-member World Cup squad but he thinks there won’t be any new faces for the upcoming World Cup 2023.
‘’ We had around 20 players in that series, we just need to cut it to 15 and I believe there won’t be much of a difference. I believe in giving security to the players and also every player should have clarity about their roles in the team ‘’, he concluded.
In his latest interview with a local TV channel, Mickey Arthur was also questioned about the future of some Pakistani players that includes Imad Wasim, Muhammad Amir, Haris Sohail, Shoaib Malik, and Umar Akmal in the ODI team of Pakistan and what will their future related to playing international cricket. Even though he didn’t mention any specific player but he acknowledged the performances of a couple of players.
Arthur already mentioned that he believes in giving security to the players and there are not many changes required in Pakistan’s World Cup squad. So, by the look of things, it is not expected that any of these players will make an entry in the World Cup, with the fitness of Haris Sohail will be the only question to his inclusion in Pakistan’s squad.
Pakistan team played a five-match ODI series against New Zealand on their home ground and won the series 4-1 against Kiwis. Pakistan cricket team thrashed the New Zealand team in the ODI series to become the #1 ranked ODI team in the ICC rankings for the first time in history under the captaincy of Babar Azam.
PAKISTAN’S EXPECTED WORLD CUP SQUAD:
As confirmed by Mickey Arthur, the World Cup squad of the Pakistan team will almost be the same as what was picked for Pakistan’s series against New Zealand and there won’t be many changes in that squad.
