ICC World Cup 2023 – Waqar Younis Picks Four Players As Match Winners For Pakistan In The World Cup

The former captain and coach of the Pakistan team, Waqar Younis named four players from the Pakistan team as the match winners for Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

In his latest interview with Cricket Pakistan, Waqar Younis picks his four match winners for the Pakistan team who will play a very crucial role in the wins for the team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, later this year in India.

The legendary pacer of Pakistan has also backed this Pakistan team to win matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup as he thinks that there are players in Pakistan team who can handle the pressure and are match winners on their own for the team.

The former captain of the Pakistan team, Waqar Younis names the captain of the Pakistan team and the #1 ODI batsman in the world, Babar Azam as the first one to feature on his list which he thinks is gonna be the match winner for the Pakistan team in upcoming World Cup 2023.

The other three players which are on the list of Waqar Younis are the lefties: the left-handed opening batters, Fakhar Zaman, and Imam Ul Haq as well as the top-ranked ODI bowler for the Pakistan team, Shaheen Shah Afridi are the players whom he thinks will be there to watch out in the World Cup 2023.

‘’ Pakistan team has handled the pressure better in the recent past. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter where you play as long as you are executing your skills and plans on the field, you are good to go and play anywhere ‘’, he added.

‘’ We don’t have any issues as we have match winners, we have those players who can win matches single-handedly on their own, the likes of Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and we all have seen Imam playing great knocks as well. Pakistan has all the resources and it’s now just about executing the plans and handling the pressure of the World Cup games ‘’, he further added.

The four names mentioned by Waqar Younis for the World Cup include Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq, and Shaheen Shah Afridi are also the top-ranked players of the Pakistan team in the ODI rankings as well.

Babar Azam has been ranked as the #1 ODI batsman since 2021 and is by far the best batter in ODI cricket at the moment, followed by Imam Ul Haq, and Fakhar Zaman – both are in the top 10 ODI rankings as well for the Pakistan team. The left-arm pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi is also Pakistan’s highest-ranked ODI pacer, who features in the top 10 ODI bowling rankings.

Even though Waqar Younis didn’t mention the name of some players such as Haris Rauf who has been a star for Pakistan in ODI cricket, Naseem Shah who is a player to watch out for in the World Cup, and at the end Shadab Khan, the vice-captain of the Pakistan team, who is definitely one of the World’s top all-rounder and can win games on his own for Pakistan in the 2023 World Cup.

There are definitely stars in the Pakistan team who are the best in their business and as Waqar Younis said, all they need is to put their skills together and absorb the pressure and there is a huge chance they will do well in the World Cup 2023.
