AMIR PICKS HIS FOUR SEMI-FINALISTS:

The former Pakistani cricketer, Muhammad Amir in his latest interview revealed the four teams that he thinks will make it through the semis of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played in India later this year, Muhammad Amir feels that India will be the certain one that will qualify for the semi-final of the ICC tournament but he is not sure about the qualification of Pakistan for the ICC Cricket World Cup.

In his latest interview with a local news channel, the left-arm Pakistani pacer, Muhammad Amir selected his four teams that will qualify for the knockouts of the tournament in India, he selected India as his first choice team that will be through to the semis because he thinks that they will have a huge home advantage and that’s why it will be a big advantage for the Indian team in the World Cup 2023.

The former Pakistani cricketer feels that England is the favorite to win the tournament and no one should write New Zealand off from this tournament. He further raised concerns about the qualification of the Pakistan team because he feels only one team between Pakistan and Australia will go through to the next round.

‘’ India without a doubt, because those conditions suit them very well. I think England will be the favorite. New Zealand, we always underestimate them but they always make the top four. In the end, either Australia or Pakistan will be in the top four teams in the World Cup 2023 ‘’, Muhammad Amir added.

Muhammad Amir feels that even though conditions are quite good for Pakistan but for Pakistan to qualify for semis, the bowling unit of Pakistan has to step up, and then the Pakistan team will have some bright chances to qualify.

‘’ Pakistan is a late starter, as you have noticed that whenever a big tournament starts, we always start slow. The current conditions are favorable for Pakistan as compared to England. We have batters who can score a total of 300 – 350 runs, and if our bowling of Pakistan performs well then we are in for a chance ‘’, he concluded.

In the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Muhammad Amir was part of that mega-event and Pakistan narrowly missed out on an opportunity to qualify for the semi-finals, Pakistan was knocked out of the tournament because of less NRR to the New Zealand team.

Muhammad Amir was the leader of the attack in the previous World Cup 2019 for Pakistan, he played eight games for Pakistan in the 2019 World Cup and picked up 17 wickets for the Pakistan team, he picked up 17 wickets at an average of 21 in those eight games.

The left-arm Pakistani pacer was the highest wicket-taker from the Pakistan team and played a very crucial role for the Pakistan team in the wins Pakistan had in the tournament.
