Afghanistan chased down the target of 283 runs against Pakistan and handed them their third consecutive defeat of the World Cup 2023 tournament.

FIRST INNINGS:
Pakistan got a good start against Afghani bowlers in the powerplay as Pakistan scored 56 runs for the loss of one wicket in the powerplay.
After the steady start, Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam batted brilliantly for Pakistan in the middle overs as both scored fifties.
The captain, Babar Azam scored 74 runs on 92 deliveries and Abdullah Shafique scored 58 runs on 75 deliveries against the quality spin attack of Afghanistan.

Pakistan took them lightly but they were on their way to creating history against Pakistan and they did so by defeating Pakistan comprehensively for the first time in ODI cricket.
Gurbaz and Ibrahim scored 65 and 87 runs respectively and Rahmat also scored fifty in the run chased, and a 48-run knock from the captain, Shahidi made it easier for Afghanistan to chase down the target.
On the spin track of Chennai, Pakistani spinners bowled 21 overs and leaked 131 runs without picking a single wicket in the second innings.
Only Shaheen Shah and Hassan Ali managed to pick one wicket each in the match as Afghanistan won the match by 8 wickets in 49 overs against Pakistani bowlers.
