PAK Vs AFG 2ND ODI Match: Naseem Shah’s Heroics Helped Pakistan Chased 301 Against Afghanistan To Win The Series

PAK Vs AFG 2ND ODI Match:

Pakistan cricket team chased down the target of 301 runs with just one wicket to spare and with this win, they are now the #1 Ranked ODI team in ICC Rankings.

The captain of Afghanistan, Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and chose to bat first in the second ODI match against Pakistan.

FIRST INNINGS:

The decision of Afghanistan to bat first paid them quite well as there was a 200+ opening partnership between Ibrahim Zadran and Rahman Gurbaz.

Rahman Gurbaz was the standout performer who scored his fifth ODI century (152 runs off 151 deliveries) against Pakistan along with Ibrahim Zadran who scored his third fifty (80 runs off 101 deliveries) in ODI cricket helped Afghanistan to score a challenging total of 300 against Pakistan.

The innings from the Afghan opener, Rahman Gurbaz was the reason Pakistan conceded the highest-ever score by Afghanistan in ODI cricket.

Shaheen Shah Afridi picked two wickets at the back end of the innings, a wicket each was picked by Naseem Shah and Usama Mir who bowled brilliantly at the death overs to restrict Afghanistan to 300 after a huge start.

SECOND INNINGS:

In the run chase of 301 runs, Pakistan was off to a good start with a fifty partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Imam Ul Haq.

Fakhar Zaman played well but was dismissed by Fazal Haq Farooqi at the end of the power-play after scoring 30 runs in just 34 deliveries, with the help of five boundaries.

The captain of Pakistan, Babar Azam along with Imam Ul Haq proved to be the crucial partnership in the run chase. The #1 and #3 ranked ODI batsman completed 10th century partnership between them in ODI cricket.

Babar Azam and Imam Ul Haq both scored half-centuries in the run chase for Pakistan. Babar Azam scored 53 runs and Imam Ul Haq scored 91 runs.

Shadab Khan who scored a brilliant knock of 48 runs off just 35 deliveries, just fell short from his half-century, and the magnificent finish by Naseem Shah helped Pakistan to chase the target of 301 runs.

This is the first time Pakistan chased down the target of 301 runs with just 1 wicket remaining but with this magnificent win, Pakistan has won the series 2-0 against Afghanistan.
