PSL 2024 – PSL 9 Schedule, Venues, Draft, Captains

The next edition of Pakistan Super League season 9 will take place in 2024 as per the proposed schedule and here we will talk about all the news related to the inclusion of PSL teams, next year’s PSL schedule, the addition of new venues for the next season of PSL and the draft date of Pakistan Super League 2024, all of your question will be answered below in this article.

PSL 2024 FORMAT:

The format of Pakistan Super League will be no different as we talk about this, six teams will feature in the PSL 2024 which will play a double round-robin format.

There will be two-three legs in Pakistan Super League 2024 and after the complete group stage matches, the top 4 teams of the tournament will play the PLAYOFFS of the tournament and will fight against each other in the latter part of the tournament for the trophy.

PSL 2024 SCHEDULE:

Basically, it’s certain that every season of the Pakistan Super League starts almost on the same dates in between the dates of FEB – MARCH but in Pakistan Super League 2024 edition.

The tournament was expected to be underway as proposed by the PCB in the month of January and February because of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, but it was not finalized and the decision will be taken by the board before the start of the tournament.

The official dates of the Pakistan Super League 2023 season has been announced and the matches of the tournament are scheduled to be played from 8 FEB, 2024 to 24 MAR, 2024.

PSL 2024 FIXTURES:

The fixtures of the Pakistan Super League 2024 are yet to be announced but the dates and matches of the PSL 2024 will be updated here once the official schedule is released by Pakistan Super League.

PSL 2024 NEW TEAMS:

It is a tournament in which six teams go head to head against each other and those six teams include;

Pakistan Super League was started with 5 teams and the tournament was hosted in UAE back in 2016 and after some years a new team Multan Sultans was added but now even after the completion of eight seasons of Pakistan Super League, we are still waiting for the inclusion of another team in PSL.

PCB CHAIRMAN NAJAM SETHI was asked about the inclusion of another team on which he replied that he also wants this to happen but the previous management wasn’t very keen to work on this matter so as he has taken over he will now arrange a meeting with board members and with team owners of PSL so that they can make things happen regarding the inclusion of a new team in Pakistan Super League 2024.

MIDDLESEX TEAM IN PSL –

As the Pakistan Super League has made a worldwide reputation so there are also media reports that a county team MIDDLESEX has also expressed its desire to be a part of the Pakistan Super League as the 7TH team, but things are not finalized yet.

This will happen only when both the boards are mutually agreed to work closely on this matter and there is a complete understanding between the PCB and the county team to send their team and which can compete in the Pakistan Super League.

All the news regarding the inclusion of the county team will be believed when it will be officially announced by Pakistan Cricket Board, but the inclusion of this team in PSL will definitely help PCB in building the brand value of PSL in future but we have to wait and watch in this regard.

PSL 2024 RETENTIONS:

The most difficult thing here is to predict the retained players of every franchise. We all know that there is too much cricket going on around the world and teams must take that under consideration because player availability becomes a big issue at the end so to avoid that team management always look into this matter and the player which shows his full availability is the one who is retained by their franchise.

PSL 2024 DRAFT:

The draft dates of the Pakistan Super League 9Th edition are expected to be around the first week of December but it can also be taken back in the last part of November if the cricket board decides to complete PSL before it’s original time we might see some changes in the PSL draft dates as well.

The draft of the PSL 2024 season will take place after the teams have announced the retained players for the upcoming PSL 9 edition. It is expected that the retentions will be announced by the PSL franchises at the end of November.

Furthermore, Pakistan Cricket Board has announced that the PSL 2024 Draft is expected to be scheduled in the mid of December. The HBL PSL 2024 Draft date is officially announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Draft is scheduled to take place on 13 December, 2023.

The player registration for the PSL 2024 Draft is currently opened and after the announcement for the Player List of the PSL 2024, the PSL Draft will help to bring teams in shape for the Pakistan Super League season 9.

PSL 2024 AUCTION –

Like every other season this one is no other than the same in which the major demand from the fans is that they see want to see a Player Auction in Pakistan Super League which is acceptable in this sense because fans want more international stars in their league and for that to happen PSL Auction will help us to attract big names of world cricket to come and play in Pakistan.

In the HBL PSL DRAFT, the franchises are allowed to pick player from the players who have registered themselves for the draft of the Pakistan Super League. Many top international players are expected to be a part of the PSL 2024 Draft including Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, Lungi Ngidi, and many others.

The pick order for the HBL PSL 2024 draft is also announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The pick order includes the picks from all the categories such as Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Emerging picks.

These are pick order for the top three categories in the HBL PSL 2024 draft and here is the order by which the teams will pick their players in the upcoming HBL PSL 2024 edition.

The categories such as Platinum 2 and Diamond 2,3 are unavailable because the teams have already retained their players in those categories.

PSL 2024 CAPTAINS:

To play Pakistan Super League is itself a big achievement but to be named as captain for any franchise in PSL is next level thrill, here we will also talk about the name of players that will captain their franchise in the next edition of Pakistan Super League 2024 which are;

All the franchise captains for the PSL 2023 seasons are expected to be retained but we might see some chance in the leadership roles for Quetta Gladiators for the upcoming PSL 2024 because it’s now the right time for someone to come up and hold this team looking forward about the future.

They should take this call to groom some other players under the leadership of the former Pakistani captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed which will definitely help another player to learn from the best.

PSL 2024 VENUES:

Pakistan Super League was started in UAE when it was launched in 2016 – after that gradually our management and agencies worked closely on this matter, and from conducting PSL PLAYOFFs to all PSL MATCHES, it’s been years and years of hard work to bring back our brand back in Pakistan.

Furthermore, we still can’t say that it has been done completely as there are still parts of our country which are still waiting that one day this festival will arrive at their doors as well and PCB is trying their best in order order to fulfill the dream of the Pakistan cricket fans.

PCB chairman Najam Sethi announced that they will do their best in order to make stadiums of some other cities this well that they can host PSL matches in next season which include the stadium of PESHAWAR and QUETTA.

The confirmed venues where the matches of the PSL 2024 will be played in the 2024 season are as follows;

These four venues are confirmed for the PSL 2024 season. Even though there were reports that two new stadiums will be added to the mix this year from Peshawar and Quetta but looks like it wont be happening this year and PSL will be played at these four venues.

There are also some news that the first few matches of the Pakistan Super League can he held outside Pakistan, the PSL 2024 in UAE might be a suitable option amid the elections in Pakistan. Even though, there is no official confirmation on this but things are still under discussion.

EXPECTED ADDITION OF VENUES IN PSL 2024

ARBAB NIAZ STADIUM – PCB has confirmed that they are trying their best to get the stadiums of QUETTA and PESHAWAR back in shape so that they can be able to host PSL matches as well, and there is nothing wrong in this because the Arbab Niaz stadium is under renovation since a time and is expected to be completed this year and PSL 2024 matches can be hosted here if the work is done on time.

BUGTI STADIUM – Same goes with Bugti stadium which is also under renovation and PCB along with the local government is trying their best to be able to get Quetta stadium ready to host PSL matches, it’s a tough task but fingers crossed and we can’t wait for this to happen because it is one of the most beautiful stadiums of Pakistan.

PSL 2024 WINNERS HISTORY:
