Usman Qadir Friendship With Babar Azam

Usman Qadir:

Usman Qadir, the son of the legendary leg-spinners Abdul-Qadir explains that his friendship with the Pakistani captain isn’t the reason he played for the Pakistan team.

In an interview with Cricket Pakistan, Usman Qadir clarifies his relationship with Pakistan’s all-format captain, Babar Azam. He believes that there is misperception when everyone thinks that Babar was the reason I made the debut for Pakistan.

The right-arm leg spinner believes that the former coach and selector, Misbah Ul Haq was the one who gave him chance to play in the Pakistan team and not Babar Azam.

‘’ My relation with Babar Azam is not from today, it’s been since we both gave trails for the Under-15. I only came into team when Babar became the captain but that doesn’t mean he took me into the team. The person who brought me into the team was Misbah Ul Haq ‘’, Usman added.

He further said that the Pakistani captain isn’t the one who brought him into the team because this is Pakistan’s team and not of Babar Azam.

‘’ I mentioned this earlier as well, that Babar didn’t get me into the team, and why would he? This isn’t his (Babar Azam) team, its Pakistan team. Even Babar has acknowledged this himself ‘’, Usman Qadir added.

The Pakistani leg-spinners thinks that his friendship with the captain, Babar Azam has caused harm to his career because there is always unnecessary pressure on him and Babar Azam because of this relation.

‘’ If the critique is around Babar’s and my friendship, then I should never have been out of the team in the first place. In fact, Babar’s friendship has caused me more harm than benefit because this is always added extra pressure on both of us equally ‘’, he concluded.

Usman Qadir made his debut for Pakistan in 2020, and has played matches for Pakistan in both T20Is and ODIs as well.

He was always criticized that Babar Azam is the one who picked him in the team and such players are labeled as ‘’ PARCHI ‘’ in Pakistan but Usman Qadir has always denied such remarks.

The Pakistani leg-spinners has played 24 international matches for Pakistan, he has picked up 30 wickets in his international career at an average of around 20. He has only played 1 ODI match for the Pakistan team.
