World Cup 2023: Can Pakistan Still Qualify For The World Cup 2023 Semis?

Can Pakistan Still Qualify For The World Cup 2023 Semis?

As we know, Pakistan is currently fifth on the points table with three wins out of seven games in the World Cup 2023. The chance to make it into the semis is a bit difficult for Pakistan but mathematically, it’s still possible.

India has almost confirmed that they will play the semis of the World Cup 2023, but the other three spots are still open for everyone.

POSSIBLE SCNERIOS:

For Pakistan to remain in contention, they have to make sure they win all of their remaining matches. Here are all the three possible scenarios to qualify for the semis of the World Cup 2023:

Pakistan has two more games left against New Zealand, and England – if Pakistan can win all two games, they will reach up to 10 points in the points table.

  • Australia is yet to play three more games against some top teams like NZ and ENG, as well as against AFG in the World Cup 2023. The results will be in favor of Pakistan if Australia loses at least two games, and then everything will be decided on NRR.
  • South Africa has three more games to go in the World Cup 2023 and for Pakistan to remain in contention, South Africa has to lose all three games against IND, NZ, and AFG.
  • New Zealand has to play three more games and Pakistan can qualify if they lose their all three games which will be played against SA, PAK, and SRILANKA.

The best chance out of all these scenarios is to look out on the games of New Zealand as they have to play against three good teams including Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

New Zealand will be stranded on 8 points if they lost all three games and Pakistan willl directly qualify with 10 points. If NZ won one out of three games, they will reach 10 points where Pakistan and New Zealand will be equaled and the qualified team will be decided on NRR.

Furthermore, Pakistan has to make sure that they can get their run rate better and better in their upcoming games and this will help them if they can manage to win the rest of the two games against New Zealand and England.
