The former Indian cricketer and YouTuber Aakash Chopra picks his combined XI players from India and Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup.
Pakistan and India are scheduled to play against each other in the group stage of the Asia Cup 2023 on 2 SEPTEMBER, 2023 in Sri Lanka.
OPENERS:
Aakash Chopra picked one Pakistani and one Indian batter for his opening pair, which includes Rohit Sharma and Fakhar Zaman at the top of his combined team.
‘’ I am going to pick Rohit as my opener and as captain. I am not picking Shubman Gill because he is new in his career. My mind tells me to pick Imam but my heart says Zaman. So, I am going with Zaman ‘’, he added.
MIDDLE ORDER:
The Indian YouTuber as expected picked Virat Kohli at the #3 spot in his team, followed by the Pakistani captain, Babar Azam who will play at #4 in Chopra’s team.
‘’ At #3 I have no doubt in my mind because of the tons of runs Virat Kohli has scored at the #3 spot. Babar Azam will be my #4. He plays at #3 for his team but if Virat is at #3, Babar might himself want to play at the #4 spot ‘’, Aakash Chopra further added.
WICKETKEEPER BATSMAN:
Aakash Chopra eventually picked Muhammad Rizwan at the #5 spot because he believes that Rizwan knows how to score runs and is an excellent wicketkeeper as well.
‘’ KL Rahul is not available. So, I am just going with Rizwan at #6 in my team ‘’, he added.
FINISHER ROLE:
The former Indian cricketer named Hardik Pandya and Iftikhar Ahmed for the #6 spot in his team, believes that the pick will be based on the pitch condition.
‘’ At #6 if there is pace-friendly pitch, I will go with Hardik Pandya, but if there is a spin-friendly pitch, I will go with Iftikhar Ahmed ‘’, Chopra added.
ALL-ROUNDERS:
Aakash Chopra believes that the two spin-bowling all-rounders will make it into any team, Ravindra Jadeja and Shadab Khan will play at #7, and #8 in Chopra’s combined XI for the Asia Cup 2023.
‘’ I am keeping Ravindra Jadeja at #7 to add a left-hander into the mix. You can also send Shadab Khan if an off-spinner is bowling because both are in my team ‘’, Chopra further added.
PACE BOWLERS:
When it comes to picking the pace attack of his combined XI, Aakash Chopra picked two Pakistani pacers and one Indian pacer in his team.
‘’ The first name is Shaheen Afridi, followed by Jasprit Bumrah. Shaheen from one end and Bumrah from another. There was a little tension for the final spot between Siraj, Shami, and Haris but I will go with Haris Rauf as my third seamer ‘’, Aakash Chopra concluded.
