Before the start of the World Cup 2023, as per the latest rankings update, Babar Azam is still the No.1 ranked ODI batsman in the world in the ICC ODI Rankings.

The captain of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam is going to feature in the 2023 Cricket World Cup as the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world.

Babar Azam is currently at the top of the ODI Rankings with 857 rating points, followed by Indian batsman, Shubman Gill who is at 847 rating points in the ICC Rankings.

It will be the first time that any batsman from Pakistan will start the World Cup as the No.1 ranked ODI batsman in the ICC Rankings, and Babar Azam has achieved this feature for Pakistan.

Previously, the highest-ranked batsman in the World Cups for Pakistan was Javed Miandad who was at the second spot in the ICC ODI Rankings before the start of the 1987 ODI World Cup.

In the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Babar Azam entered the World Cup as the seventh highest-ranked batsman in the ICC ODI Rankings but now he will enter the World Cup as the highest-ranked batsman in the world.

Babar Azam has also equaled the record of Majid Khan, Javed Miandad, and Muhammad Yousaf to enter two consecutive World Cups as the highest-ranked batsman for Pakistan.

Pakistan is scheduled to play nine matches in the group stages of the World Cup 2023 and the matches of World Cup 2023 will be played from OCTOBER 5, 2023.
