PAKISTAN SUPER LEAGUE 2024 ALL DETAILS:
Pakistan Super League usually known as PSL, is now the 2nd biggest league in this world after the IPL and there is no doubt that it’s the greatest ever league Pakistan has ever managed to create as a domestic tournament, at the moment six teams contest against each other to fight for the top spot and to win this league. This league is owned and governed by the Pakistan Cricket Board, and each franchise team is owned by private companies and entities.
PSL 2024 MOTIVE:
The Pakistan Super League is the most prestigious tournament which was started by the Pakistan Cricket Board way back in 2016 and since then PSL has given Pakistan many emerging superstars who have represented Pakistan and even in 2024 PSL nothing has changed and the main reason to conduct this tournament is to find players and those talents who can represent Pakistan at the highest level for their country.
PSL 2024 FORMAT:
The format of the Pakistan Super League is gonna be no different from the other seasons, the PSL is played as a double round-robin tournament.
- In every season of the PSL, each team plays with every other team twice and that ends up with 10 matches for each team in the group stages and the rest depends on the team that qualifies for the second round.
- In the PSL 2024 playoffs, the top two teams and the bottom two teams lock horns with each other to fight for the final spot in the PSL season.
- The top 2 teams get a chance to get into the final even if they lose once and that’s a reward for their consistent performances in the group stage matches.
- The winner of the match between the Top 2 teams of the group stage matches qualifies straight into the Finals of the Pakistan Super League.
- The team at third and fourth has to win two matches if they want to qualify for the Finals of the PSL.
PSL 2024 MATCHES:
There are six number of teams playing in every edition of the Pakistan Super League and each team plays with each other twice in the PSL single edition, these mark a total of 10 matches, and these matches are played by every team even if they qualify for the second round or not.
- In the PSL, the total number of matches that are played in the whole season is 34 and it cannot be exceeded.
- In the PSL, each team has of play a minimum number of 10 matches every season.
- In the PSL, each team can play a maximum of 13 matches per season if they qualify for the Finals of HBL PSL.
PSL 2024 SCHEDULE:
Normally a PSL edition is scheduled to take place in February – March every year before the start of the IPL because no one wants to crash their league calendars with IPL and the same is the case when the schedule of PSL is decided.
However, according to media reports the next season PSL 2024 which will be the 9TH edition of this tournament, this edition of PSL is expected to be played around 8 February – 24 March, 2024.
As per the reports, The 2024 edition of the Pakistan Super League is scheduled to be played from 8 February 2024 to 24 March, 2024, at the start of next year.
POSSIBILITY IN LINE – It is circulated that PCB wants to schedule this tournament a month before its original time so that the players for WT20 2024 can rest after the tournament and can prepare themselves for the biggest ICC tournament next year.

PSL 2024 VENUES:
Pakistan Super League was started in 2016 and at that time this league was played in UAE on venues of Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu-Dhabi and those venues were finalized but as soon as the PSL event has now moved back to Pakistan, the venues of the Pakistan Super League are decided before the start of every season.
PSL chairman Najam Sethi, in a conference has stated that they will try their best to make PSL happen in every part of the country, he has promised that he will take PSL to Peshawar stadium as well as Quetta stadium as soon as they are available to host international cricket.
The confirmed venues for the PSL 2024 matches includes Gadaffi Stadium, Rawalpindi Stadium, Karachi Stadium, Peshawar Stadium, and Multan Stadium.

PSL 2024 7TH TEAM ADDITION:
Almost before every season of PSL, there are news circulations around the event that there should be a 7Th PSL team and these 6 teams aren’t enough for the talent that is available in Pakistan every season.
The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Najam Sethi spoke to the media in a press conference and the same question was asked to him that what he thinks about the addition of the 7Th team in the PSL, Najam Sethi blamed the former Chairman of PCB Ramiz Raja and said that the former management hasn’t made any decisions in this regards and that’s why things are not getting into order now.
- He further said that he will try his best to do whatever he could for the betterment of cricket and he will arrange a meeting with the franchise owners and other board members to decide and persuade everyone that the addition of 7Th PSL team is beneficial for everyone and we should take this initiative as soon as possible to up PSL as a brand around the world.
- As per the current reports, Pakistan Cricket Board has denied the news of the addition of a new team in the Pakistan Super League 2024 edition.
- If we talk about the latest development, we can say that Pakistan Cricket Board officials have stated that they will be looking to add more team after the tenth season of the Pakistan Super League.
PSL 2024 MIDDLESEX TEAM:
When the talks about the 7TH PSL team was going on around the media, the news about another team that can participate in the Pakistan Super League were about the English County Team, Middlesex which is willing to take part in the PSL season and which can help both PSL and players to get the exposure of the biggest league in the world after IPL.
Middlesex CEO and members of their body have wrote a letter in this regard to PCB which shows that they are definitely serious in sending their team to Pakistan to play in the PSL, there are no official updates on the reply of PCB but definitely if PCB accepts this proposal and all things go ahead as per plan we can say that this will be very helpful for the betterment of the cricket in both countries.
PSL 2024 TEAM COST:
The most expensive team way back in 2018 was Multan Sultans which was around $ 42 Million at that time and surely now the brand value of the PSL has increased almost double so for me if any company or entity are willing to buy a team in the PSL tournament they will definitely have to pay around $ 70-80 Million for the new team in the PSL 2024.
- Although this amount seems too much for a team but actually this is not as the team and the owner which will buy this team for this amount will definitely get much more than this in the name of sponsors and the winning price of the PSL, many more things are also there to decide the payback amount for the PSL teams but whatever you say the PSL teams are never in loss even if they don’t win the tournament.
PSL 2024 SPONSORS:
The PSL was started in 2016 and at the time HBL won the official sponsorship rights for the HBL PSL, since that time the deals is renewed again and again and is still going on strongly, In 2022, the deal was renewed again for more 4 years of journey with the PSL and so the PSL 2024 sponsorship is also awarded to HBL and it will continue till PSL 2025, HBL is expected to retain this sponsor title after this deal as well.

PSL 2024 RETENTION DATE:
The retention date of players is announced 2-3 months before the PSL 2024 season starts, the retention date of the PSL 2024 is expected to be at the end of October or in the first week of November at the end pf this year, so that players can have their shaped up before the HBL PSL 2024 draft which will be held after player retentions have been announced.

PSL 2024 NEW PLAYERS:

PSL 2024 AUCTION STATUS:
One thing that is always demanded by the fans is that PSL should hold an Auction for the players rather than the draft type picking which will definitely attract big names and also creates more interest as well as more viewership to the PSL, this is always the first things that is expected by the cricket fans in Pakistan every season.
- Even though its highly demanded by the fans but it’s still just a proposal and there is no work going on in this regard, if things go the same we might see another season of the PSL with a draft taking place to pick players for their teams and there will be no difference from the other seasons, PCB chairman has also negated these facts that they can’t move to Auction draft at the moment as there are many factors which are not in their favor for the Auction of players.
PSL 2024 DRAFT:
The draft of the next season of the Pakistan Super League 2024 will be held in the first or second week of DECEMBER 2024, there can be different dates if the PSL 2024 dates are moved back so as a result the 2024 Draft of the PSL will also be done maybe two weeks before it’s original time and then the draft will be taken place in NOVEMBER 2024.
The place at which the PSL 2024 draft will take place will definitely be Karachi or Lahore, these are the two main spots on which the draft is held every year or another.
PSL 2024 DRAFT RULES:
After the retained players have been announced, the teams are allowed to take part in the draft and they can make their picks for the next season, these picks can be done on total of 18-20 players which also include the retained players, the rules to pick players in the draft as per your squad are as follows;

PSL 2024 REPLACEMENT DRAFT:
As we all know, there are many cricket leagues around the world right now and many are operating even at the same time so there is a high chance of player unavailability or any injury before the start of the PSL 2024.
- To overcome the loss for any franchise, if this happens a replacement draft is also held so that franchises can pick players based on their unavailable player’s issues.

PSL 2024 ANTHEM:

PSL 2024 QUALIFICATION SCNERIO:
All teams play their allocated number of matches in the group stages and after the end of the group stage matches, the points table shows us the top 4 teams with most numbers of wins and points and those 4 teams are qualified for the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League 2024 and this happens the same every season year after year, the format remains same.
PSL 2024 PRIZE MONEY:
The winner of the Pakistan Super League 2024 will be awarded a prize money of more than 150 Million PKR and this is a very small amount that teams and PSL earn with the broadcasters and other sponsors deals throughout the every season.
- In PSL 2023, the winning team of the season was awarded a prize money of 120 Million PKR and the runner-up received a cheque of around 50 Million PKR as prize money from the Pakistan Super League.
- In PSL 2022, the winning team of the season was awarded a prize money of 80 Million PKR and the runner-up received a cheque of around 32 Million PKR as prize money to reach this stage of the PSL season by the PCB as a reward.
