PSL 2024 To Clash With ILT20 2024:
The upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League 2024 is expected to clash with International League T20 2024 season.
Even though the matches of the Pakistan Super League are scheduled to be played from FEBRUARY – MARCH of every year but the matches of the PSL 2024 are reportedly scheduled to be played from JANUARY – FEBRUARY, 2024. The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League is expected to be played a little earlier because of the international series of the Pakistan team.
The changes are expected to be made by the Pakistan Cricket Board, because of the packed cricket schedule of the Pakistan team at the start of the 2024 season and the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 also scheduled to be played in June 2024.
The schedule of the International League T20 2024 can also clash with the Pakistan Super League because the International League T20 is scheduled to be played in JANUARY – FEBRUARY. The first season of the ILT20 was played from 13 JANUARY, 2023 – 12 FEBRUARY, 2023, and almost the same dates are expected for the upcoming edition in 2024 as well.
There were reports that the Pakistan Cricket Board has requested the Emirates Cricket Board to change some of the dates of the ILT20 so that it won’t clash with the PSL 2024 next year. It was reported that ECB was working on this but there is still nothing official on this change in dates of the ILT20 2024 or PSL 2024.
It has to be sorted out soon because some top Pakistani players are also expected to feature in the ILT20 in the 2024 season and it is confirmed that Pakistani players will be a part of the ILT20 2024 season.
The left-arm pacer of Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi has also signed a three-year deal with the ILT20 franchise, Desert Vipers and that means he will have to skip some of the matches for Desert Vipers in ILT20 2024 or Lahore Qalandars in PSL 2024 because of the timings of both leagues.
Some of the other big names of Pakistan cricket are also signed in by their respective franchises in Pakistan Super League and they will be expected to feature in the ILT20 2024 as well.
So, to avoid such a situation, the dates will be a huge concern because Pakistani players will have to play both leagues and there will be a huge commitment issue.
