RAVI SHASTRI WANTS INDIA TO LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES OF SHAHEEN AFRIDI’S INJURY

RAVI SHASTRI WANTS INDIA TO LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES OF AFRIDI’S INJURY:

Shastri who also served as the coach of the Indian team feels that India should not rush Bumrah back into international cricket just like Pakistan did with Shaheen Afridi which resulted in aggravating his injury during the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Ravi Shastri, the former captain and coach of the Indian Cricket Team has made a statement regarding the comeback of Jasprit Bumrah and relates his comeback to what happened with Pakistan’s ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The former coach of the Indian Cricket Team, Ravi Shastri raised concerns about the comeback of Jasprit Bumrah in international cricket, he says that if Bumrah is rushed back into professional cricket for the Indian team, we might lose him again for a few more months just like Pakistan did with Shaheen Shah Afridi in the T20 World Cup 2022 when he directly played the World Cup after recovering from an injury.

Jasprit Bumrah was also named in India’s T20i series against Australia and South Africa in 2022 and was ruled out of the South African home series due to a back stress fracture at the last moment, he was then replaced by Muhammad Siraj in the Indian Cricket Team and which also led him to miss the 2022 T20 World Cup as well.

Shastri believes that Indian team management should for the mistakes of Pakistan and that they should not rush Jasprit Bumrah to come back into international cricket for India.

According to the reports, India’s right-arm pacer, Jasprit Bumrah will be recovered from the injury and will be all set to play in the T20 series against Ireland but Shastri highlighted the potential risk in rushing him back to international cricket once he has completed his rehabilitation, he relates this with the injury of Shaheen Shah Afridi and warns Indian management to save Bumrah from any disaster because he is very important cricketer for the Indian Cricket Team.

‘’ He [Jasprit Bumrah] is a very important cricketer for India. If you make him play in the World Cup too soon, he might get injured again and be out of the game for several months, just like Shaheen Afridi. There is a thin line and that requires careful consideration ‘’, he added.

Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi injured his knee while fielding on the boundary in Pakistan vs Srilanka test series 2022 and was out cricket till the World Cup 2022 when he completed his rehabilitation and rushed back to play the World Cup for Pakistan. Unfortunately, in the final of the World Cup 2022, Shaheen Afridi took a catch and in the process, he again injured his knee in the final of the World Cup and missed many more important home series like test matches against England and New Zealand team.

Shaheen Shah is now fit and since his comeback, he has played a full season of the Pakistan Super League followed by home White ball series against New Zealand as well. He is getting his rhythm back and is now also named in the 2023 Pakistan Vs Srilanka Test series that is scheduled to be played in July and is the first assignment of the upcoming World Test Championship Cycle.
