SAEED AJMAL PICKS HIS 4 SPINNERS FOR WC SQUAD:

Saeed Ajmal, the former legendary spinner of the Pakistan team in his latest interview with Cricket Pakistan, gives his opinion on the squad of the Pakistan team in the upcoming World Cup 2023, which will be played later this year in India, and who better than Saeed Ajmal can tell us the importance of quality spinners in the Indian conditions?

The former Pakistani player, as we all know is a very big name when it comes to spin bowling and is also associated with coaching as well with PSL franchise Islamabad United. The upcoming World Cup is in India and because of the demand of conditions, Saeed Ajmal comes up with his recommendations for the 2023 ODI World Cup squad.

Saeed Ajmal, the former Pakistani cricketer backed Imad Wasim, the current Pakistani all-rounder to be a part of the World Cup squad as he thinks he can make a big impact in the World Cup 2023 with his all-round ability in the ODI format for the Pakistan team, both with bowl and bat in hand.

‘’ Pakistan should definitely pick Imad Wasim for the ODIs. Imad Wasim is not a bad player as he can play with a strike rate of 140 even if he is batting at #7, he can play well ‘’, he added.

Ajmal in his further talk also emphasized the importance of having a player like Imad Wasim in the team, he shared his thoughts on how Imad Wasim can contribute to the success of the Pakistan team with his bowling at the start or even in the middle of the innings with bowlers like Haris and Wasim as he thinks he is one of the best players in Pakistan and should definitely play ODI cricket for Pakistan.

‘’ Even though I know we have Shaheen and Naseem but he can also chip in with the new ball for Pakistan if someone rests for a match so I think Imad Wasim is a very good option and for me, he is one of the best players available  ‘’, he further added.

‘’ Pakistan also has quality bowlers like Haris Rauf and Wasim Jnr but they both are at their best when they bowl with the old ball, and I think Imad Wasim can even support these two pacers in the middle overs as well. Players like Imad Wasim can play a role like we used to have Abdul-Razzaq in the middle order who can bat and can even bowl 6-7 overs whenever needed ‘’, he concluded.

The former Pakistani spinner also picked his four quality spinners who he thinks are the best choices for the World Cup 2023 in India, he thinks these bowlers are necessary for the success of the Pakistan team in the upcoming tournament.

‘’ World Cup is in India and for us to be successful in the next ICC event, we need quality spinners like Imad Wasim who is bowling well, followed by the left-arm spin of Muhammad Nawaz, leg spinners like Usama Mir, and Shadab Khan who is also our vice-captain – these are the best available spinners that can be picked for the World Cup squad. If you ask me I think 3 out of these 4 players should be included in Pakistan’s World Cup squad ‘’, Saeed Ajmal picks his four best spinners for the World Cup 2023 in India.

Imad Wasim has recently made his comeback in the T20 international team after a long gap and has performed very well but the main point here is that Imad Wasim is just playing T20 cricket all around the world for a long time and hasn’t even played any 50-over matches in domestic cricket as well.

Pakistan also doesn’t have many ODI matches scheduled so Pakistan has to pick him again for the Asia Cup 2023 if the tournament happens otherwise there is not enough time for someone to be picked and get settled again in the team. So, his inclusion in the ODI World Cup depends on his fitness and whether he is ready to play ODI cricket again for the Pakistan team.
