SAQLAIN MUSHTAQ ON BABAR AZAM’S LED PAKISTAN:

The former Head Coach of the Pakistan Cricket Team, reveals the approach of Babar Azam as a team leader and the team’s internal environment under his captaincy.

Saqlain Mushtaq, the former TEST player of the Pakistan team and has also served as the Head Coach of the Pakistan team. He has worked with Babar Azam as the management of the team and that’s why he talks about the team environment that how the current lot is different from the team that played in the 90s when Saqlain Mushtaq used to play cricket for Pakistan.

‘’ Babar Azam is very good with the boys, he has created an environment in which the senior and the juniors will sit together and the captain would also sit there with everyone. Babar takes everyone along in the team and never leaves anyone alone ‘’, Saqlain Mushtaq said about Babar Azam’s role in team unity.

The former Head Coach of the Pakistan team highlighted the exceptional captaincy abilities of Babar Azam and the way he has created a very positive environment in the dressing room and he believes that’s the reason this team is more united than any of the previous teams.

The former Head Coach was very satisfied with the leadership qualities of Babar Azam as the captain of the Pakistan team and to further elaborate on his point related to Babar Azam’s importance in the team, he highlighted the mindset and positive impact of Babar Azam and shared one of his memory related to Saim Ayub and Babar Azam, and this incident that took place during Ramzan.

‘’ When Saim Ayub played for Peshawar Zalmi, you must have seen him and Babar Azam together. They used to stay together in the dressing room and even at the food table as well. During Ramzan, I used to have Sehri and Iftar with the Pakistan team; I saw Babar Azam sitting with Saim Ayub although he was new to the team and that’s because of his mindset, he doesn’t thinks that he is bigger than everyone or a bigger star. This is not the case with Babar Azam ‘’, he further added.

Saqlain Mushtaq was in awe of Babar Azam’s captaincy basics as he rated Babar Azam a very great captain because of his leadership abilities and the way he has established a very healthy environment in the team is the reason this team is united in Pakistan’s history because everyone is comfortable in the dressing room even if you are a junior player, Babar Azam’s Pakistan will welcome you whole-heartedly.

‘’ In the dressing room, it’s not like any guy feels uncomfortable because every player has the right to say whatever he wants and he can give his opinion. So, I think Babar Azam is a great leader ‘’, Saqlain Mushtaq on Babar Azam’s captaincy.

Saqlain Mushtaq, the former Head Coach, worked with the Pakistan cricket team between 2021 – 2022 and is currently working with the New Zealand cricket team as an assistant coach when he left the coaching of the Pakistan team.
