PCB WANTS TO HOST PSL 9 2024 MATCHES IN UAE AND OTHER DETAILS

PSL 2024 VENUES:

According to reports from Pakistan’s mainstream media, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who is the administrator of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), proposed the franchises of the Pakistan Super League during the tour of New Zealand that the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League 2024 should be moved out of the Pakistan.

Pakistan Cricket Board told franchises of the Pakistan Super League that they want to host the matches of the Pakistan Super League 2024 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as there are more expenses in Pakistan due to security issues.

The Chairman of the PCB management committee, Najam Sethi also once hinted about this development that he wants to move the matches of the Pakistan Super League 2024 in the United Arab Emirates and that he wants to expand the Pakistan Super League globally with this proposed action.

PCB’s general council meeting was held in Lahore, in which the chairman of the PCB’s management committee said that he wants to move PSL out of Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the reason he gave there is that he wants this to happen as many main players don’t come to play in the Pakistan Super League when it is held in Pakistan and also there are not many fans in the stadiums during the PSL matches.

Earlier, in the 2023 PSL season, there was also a deadlock between PCB and Punjab Government when they demanded money to provide security and other expenses for the matches of the Pakistan Super League in Punjab.

PCB paid a huge amount of around RS 50 Million to the Punjab Government for holding the PSL 2023 matches in Punjab and the government demanded more money from PCB for making security arrangements but thankfully that deadlock ended and PSL matches were hosted successfully in Punjab last season.

Both the reasons that were given in the meeting were there to take a look on as we all know the security expense is a genuine issue in Pakistan as a very huge amount is spent on the security arrangements of the Pakistan Super League and also many players around the world still don’t travel to Pakistan Super League to play matches in Pakistan, but that doesn’t mean that you again think of pulling you main cricket brand out of your country with has taken years to establish.

The media of Pakistan reports that the PSL franchises opposed the idea of playing PSL matches in UAE but they will consider the option of hosting matches of the Pakistan Super League 2024 in UAE.

In case, Pakistan Cricket Board and PSL franchises agree on this new proposal by the PCB, we might see PSL matches in UAE and it will not be a bad country to host PSL because as we all know that the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 matches are also scheduled to be played in UAE and there are new stadiums getting ready to host those matches next year.

Another important thing that was under discussion was to add the seventh and eighth teams in the Pakistan Super League but things are yet to be discussed that how will the players will be added to the newly added PSL teams in the next seasons.

The PCB council meeting also talked about the window to host the next season of the Pakistan Super League 2024, February is considered as the option to host the event of PSL 9 matches because the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled right after the Pakistan Super League.
